Okay, so I've been planning on getting this processor for a while and today I decided to take the 10 minutes to drive to Fry's.  So I get there, and there was one of the Fry guys talking with another customer about a deal they had to day.  You get some ESC piece of shit motherboard and an E6600 for $298 (only like 11 bucks less than their normal price).  But that ESC mobo is worth $119.99 (I think that it's SLi too!)

So I've decided I'm going to sell the mobo on Ebay or something starting at $50 plus S & H, or I may use it in a new computer build I'm doing for my dad.  But anyway, I will eventually make money out of the whole ordeal.. I was pretty stoked...

So if any of you live near a Fry's and are looking into getting an E6600, get your ass down there!

EDIT:

there's the mobo, heh, it a lot cheaper on Newegg...

I actually looked at a board by ECS last week, if this is the same one, the  pci-e slots only go up to 8x, (even with a single gpu). So it's sli or nothing.

Baaaah don't look at ECS!  It is crap!

Even the salesmen from Fry's said that it is pretty much shit, and they are really not supposed to do that.. ever.

I would never buy anything with a bad review, I ended up picking out the Asus P5B-E, not sli, but my 7950 should be good on it's own until some new dx10 cards come out.

Fry's is the quintessential US geek store...it started out as a supermarket chain the San Francisco Bay Area...and as Silicon Valley emerged, Fry's began to cater to the computer geeks...eventually all but leaving food behind (unless various candies and sodas can be considered "food") and becoming the store that caters to geeks of all stripes...

A quick search on ebay shows the average selling price of that ECS board is about 40 bucks. A nice little 40 dollar discount would be nice on a E6600 considering all you have to do is sell the board on eBay and ship it. Nice find.

Are you on crack? You can run a single GPU and the PCI-E bus will run at 16x...

Worst case scenario is that only the board will fry, the CPU's are pretty strong and can reach around 3.4ghz...

I paid $310.  I't still a helluva good price for one of the fastest chips around.
