Hard to phrase, but pretty much, how well do you follow your morals/laws.

Okay, hard again. But example: Do you think that gay marriage should be allowed, but you yourself are homophobic? Or perhaps, are you for strict gun control, but would like to own a large arsenal of firearms?

Get my drift?

Discuss.

or ask me to re-explain if this is confusing. heh

I think this is a great idea for a thread. Good thinking

Personally i think a world that followed my morals...even just loosely would be pretty boring, even though I don't consider myself to be boring. For example I don't drink, my reasoning being I don't think people are themselves if they are not in control of their actions.
Another slightly strange example.... when I saw my girlfriend performing in a production I was weirdly 'bothered' by the whole thing because what I could see was not her, just someone pretending to be her.
I love her for what she is, not something else.

More generally I believe that if everyone followed the same morals and principles the world would lose a great deal of individuality which what makes people people.
I also reckon that we wouldn't progress anywhere with people stuck in 'personality stalemates' (the best way I could think of describing it).

Uniqueness is something we couldn't manage without.

I´m not sure everyone could handle all the secondhand-ganjasmoke that would be ever present in my world.

And with my morals i know i would be very comfortable...perhaps not everyone else would be,while taking their guns away and make them stop raping, stealing, lighting bums into flames, making eurodisco and giving all women the right to vote globaly.

Yeah, I'd love a world of people that all did the right thing. As for the specific example, gays can marry all they want, but just like I don't want to hear about a straight mans sex life, I don't want to hear about theirs.

My morals are made up as i go. Like a streaming video, compared to a file.

Interesting.

So would you do a different thing two separate times of the same scenario?

I tend to use the morals or principles as more of a guideline than a rule.

Dude..  this is a very cool thread.  Nice idea

A lot of the reason why I'm Libertarian is because I realize that I may hold myself to certain morals, but I don't like telling other people what to do (or for them to tell me what to do).

So, since freedom is generally the idea behind my ideals, yes...  I so wish the world was as open-minded and free as my personal ideal is.

I could smoke a joint anytime I felt like it, without having to worry about getting arrested or failing a drug test.  That's just the tip of the iceberg, but you get the idea....

Now that I re-read the question, I've decided that my morals (if they can be called such) are probably not the best to be taken as law.

For example:

Gays should be allowed to marry, but I am homophobic.

Racism/Segregation is wrong, but in all of my days I've never had a good experience with a person of another race (Not to sound racist/be racist, sorry if I offended anyone)

People should be allowed to be fat, but being overweight is quite a leech on society.

Welfare is a good idea, but I for one think 9/10 of the people on it should be able to get a job.

The list goes on.
