To me,
It is the middle of the celebration of the year. First is Thanksgiving, where we give our thanks, in general to the cosmos ( or to God, or whatever ) for what we have. Next is Christmas, where I note the Winter Solsitce and pause to give gifts to those in my circle, perhaps sowing good will and karma for the new year. It ends with New Years, where we drink in hopes of good fortune for the next year.
The birth of christ is really around Easter from what I was taught. The Christians coopted the pagan celebration of the winter solsitce and replaced it with a Christian holiday.
What does it mean to you?
