The Iranian Tourism Board says that it will offer American and other Western tourists $20 cash to visit their country.

Now aside from all the malarkey about "Pushing the Zions into the sea" thing, would you visit Iran?
I would. It has a rich history.

edit: And please state why/why not

Wow, $20 cash money to buy a plane ticket and fly to another continent!  Now I can afford to bring the whole family along!

Actually, I would consider visiting, but it wouldn't be in my top 5 regardless of the current politics.  When I first read the poll title I assumed you meant "go to WAR WITH Iran" until I read the rest of your post.

Nay, I'd rather go to England/Germany to find my roots.

Iran is a country with a rich cultural history, but in all honesty, the Middle East is a region of the world that I consider mostly undesirable to visit.  From everything I've read and from personal accounts I've heard from people I know that have visited or lived in countries like Iran, I've gathered that a lot of the Middle East is dangerous, and the areas that are safer are still rather socially oppressive.

I'll put it this way....  Any country that bans alcohol is not worth my time or money to visit.  Granted, I'm pretty sure alcohol is legal in Iran.

You could just go the the local jail .

I would.  Of course, I can't think of anywhere in the world I wouldn't want to visit if I had the time and the money................

If i were to not have the ever looming threat of a wacko grabbing me and chopping me up, then yes, I would visit Iran, it looks like a nice counrty. Too bad the very few make the very many look so bad.

To be honest you'd probably be in more danger in the more crime plagued areas of Europe, the US or Australia than in the better areas of the Middle East.

So you're comparing Iran to poor nations like Aghanistan and Iraq? They aren't all the same, Iran pretty much has the same tech and civil advances as any other western country. What do you mean by countries "like" Iran, from that I can tell that you don't know much about the Middle East...

Trust me, I've been there over 7 times

You've already proven that your stance is negative to visiting Iran, lets leave it at that.

I also explained why and stated that it was wrong. I said that It would be a nice place to visit just that like most people, the steryotypical Iranian/Arab makes me not want to go. I also say that steryotyping is wrong and I am guilty of it.

I'd love to able to visit Iran. The persians have one of the oldest cultures of the world, there is alot to see. If I could I'd spend a few months in Iran to actually start to understand their culture. Iran is probably the place I would most like to visit in the Middle East.

Sure! I'm sure $20 is enough for plenty of beer&women? Oh shit its Iran... No matter, I'd go pretty much anywhere.

Well I always intended to visit the country at some point anyway so $20 doesn't make any difference to me. The problem is the Israeli stamp on my passport.

I'm not too fond of going to those kind of places. I don't even like going to the countryside over here. Too much religious influence and prejudice.
