Per Capita being the operative words. Because your population density is so much lower than that of the mainland of course it's going to be higher. That and the fact most of your undesirables have decided to camp out in English village greens and school playing fields whilst milking our benefit system for all it's worth.
Oh and...
Is a darn sight better than a government full of them thankyou.david363 wrote:

Ireland is beautiful though, I was in Killarney this year on my Harley and had some of the best rides I've ever had.
Fuck you and your 'mainland'. If anything continental Europe is my 'mainland'. Care to explain why so many English have been coming to Ireland recently for employment? My how the times have changed.RicardoBlanco wrote:

Because they are the uneducated that are no longer needed as machines can do anything they can do 5x better. Therefore they are leaving to somewhere that needs those people. ie ireland
i was talking about that to my friends, and thats one of the points i brought up, "making us pay for air next", they are masking us pay for somehting we need to survive on, that is going too fucking farIG-Calibre wrote:
Lads it's a thread on unfair taxes being levied on us for water (in Ireland one of the wettest countries on the planet, like taxing Eskimos for snow) by the unelected Gentry of England, not a frigging rugby match. When the British state wants to levy the same charge on Pensioners as a Family of 6 then I say it's time to tell them to fuck off, be ye Protestant or Catholic!!
What next? the fresh air tax?
NI can do what they want, it doesnt bother me.
I have nothing against the Irish. They've never done anything directly or indirectly to me or anyone I know.
It all started (as far as I can tell) thanks to Cromwell back in the 1600's, and quite frankly, the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Good documentary on it the other day on Sky.
If NI and the Rep of Ireland combined, then that would be best for all - less hassle and everyones happy. And less flaming threads like this one.
They also might be able to field a decent football team for once
(ignoring our upset the other year....)

It's mainly to do with foreign investors being able to pay large salaries due to the fact your government gives them such generous grants; it's also why you get the foreign investment in the first place. Additionally, that's why you get service centres i.e. call centres springing up all over Ireland. Furthemore I'd argue you simply don't have the level of domestic skilled workers you need, hence the influx of English ones.CameronPoe wrote:

Whichever way you want to look at it the UK is Ireland's mainland; and "Fuck You" is just plain childish really.
Odd given that we skipped straight from an agricultural economy to a high-tech economy, dodging the ugly/messy industrial revolution littering the country with polluting eyesores.Vilham wrote:

Ask ANY Irishman what the mainland is and they'll reply: "Ireland is my mainland, idiot."RicardoBlanco wrote:

Lol so true, Ireland has like a million call centres and other business's that service England, just 2 examples. Alienware.uk runs in Ireland, Sainsbury call centres run in Ireland.RicardoBlanco wrote:

You, and the rest of Ireland, can say what you like. It doesn't change the fact that Ireland cannot actually be a mainland of Ireland. See the problem in your sentence there?CameronPoe wrote:

Whats the mainland if you're stood on the Aran Islands? what's the mainland if you're stood on Rathlin island? it sure isn't England..RicardoBlanco wrote:

I don't get it. All this Ireland stuff is annoying! If they all want to be separate then why not? If they want to be a part then sure!
Just don't use religious views govern this. Protestants want to stay? Catholics separated? Why? Did the Pope want them apart and Jesus wants them in?
They should choose for economic and also democracy reasons, not which religion they are.
(From my Modern World Study essay):
"There will never be a simple solution to the problems in Northern Ireland. Every agreement will be met with opposition. Although the violence has declined since the 1970s there will always be acts of aggression. Recently the IRA have announced the end of their acts, this is most likely to be caused with the growing threat of Al-Qaeda on western civilisation. There is almost a new bully in school, so the IRA is trying to place themselves away from these attacks. Even though the threat is still there I think that eventually there will be peace in Northern Ireland but it will take a lot of understanding and compromise to get there."

What i am getting at is that Scottish gas are owned by Centrica which is basically British Gas, so not a Scottish company so saying Scottish gas has fueled England's economy for 30 years is wrong. As it is a british company supplying the gas not a Scottish, English or welsh one, and although the head office is in England we do not call it English Gas.IG-Calibre wrote:

But at the end of the day what does it matter i think Centrica is owned by a American company nowadays i think LOL
The gas fields lay in Scottish waters. If England hadn't conquered Scotland they wouldn't have got their hands on it.
I think you will actully find that Scotland conquered England when King James became the first king of England and Scotland, he was scottish.
Who in turn was overthrown by a Dutchman (William)Vilham wrote:

I'm not saying Ireland has a bad economy, it's just not the strongest as you imply and as far as being attractive to foreign investment the UK is still leagues ahead...CameronPoe wrote:

I guess the point is, Northern Ireland could do a hell of a lot worse than be affiliated with the UK and I'd be prepared to go out on a limb and say most of its population would say the same. Coming from the Republic of Ireland, a different country by the way, what gives you the right to have your say on their nationality?
They controlled it 850 years ago, doesnt that give them the right /sarcasmRicardoBlanco wrote:

erm well move south then?
money going in because Ireland is on a tourist boom and a money increase in one part of the UK increases the money in all of the UK (sortof)
and low taxes because the country isn't rich enough to afford them yet
the taxes will raise steadily in NI over the next few years as the economy strengthens with the money being put into it being taken out again with capital on top
people in NI get richer out of this so i shouldn't see why they should complain
(thats the plan anyway, whether it works or not is something time will dictate)
