or they could have a system of punishment that entailed other punishments than just moving towards kicking a player out of the server.

in Counter-Strike: Source, for example, if you get TK'ed, you can temporarily blind the tk'er, burn them for 1/2 of their health, temporarily drug them, etc.

I'll agree that something needs to be done about this.

2 recent events:

1.  While planting mines, I got run over and TKd.  I forgave - as things were kinda hot and heavy, it happens.  But then the asshat who ran me over hits one of my mines - then punishes me for the TK.

2.  I planted mines at the entrance to a base we were holding.  I planted them in staggered rows, so our ppl could see them there and drive around then.  Along comes a DPV with 3 people in it.  He sees them and stops, tries to figure how to drive around the mines, and hits one anyway.  3 "punishes" and a ban for excessive TKing...

gotta love it.

I take much pride and try to have some fun in everything I do, as everyone should. It's true that everyone does have their own definition on exactly what "fun" is, and this is just a game. But a game should be fun, no? Why play if you're just gonna cry? Alls I was talkin bout was that there ain't no reason in BF2 to get all mad and frustrated. The problems are with the game and not that everyone playing is a "tard" or a noob. You gotta just roll with it and keep the game fun, or anything for that matter. My first post wasn't even directed at anyone in particular anyways. I got called out, like you wouldn't have opened up a can of whoop ass. I don't think I was going overboard, I tend to think of it like I was making it fun and entertaining. This is a website dedicated to BF2 for cry's sake! Like this isn't the place to do a little trash talkin! On that note I'll take on all of yall! Step up and get delt with!  fuck yo couch nigga!

The biggest problem I see with this issue, and it IS GETTING OLD... is two-fold.

Firstly, there will always be smacktards.
Secondly, neither you nor the game-engine can discern the intent of a players actions.

Therefore, I believe the current system is the best solution.

Engineers/snipers need to be more responsible about when/where they place their explosives. I am sick and tired of trying to bring valuable assets to the frontline, only to be locked in by my teammates explosives.

d.) A sniper sets a claymore thinking that he owns that roof/that no one else wants to use that posistion.
Situation:  A sniper behind enemy lines manages to get up on a roof.  Are you saying he shouldn't lay a mine?  That is just silly.  If you agree that he should place a claymore, then what happens later when the line shifts?  If the sniper is still getting good kills on the roof, leaves the claymore in place, and some clueless idiot decides not to look where he is going...that is the snipers fault?  No, sorry that is the opinion of a very selfish, lazy, and not very bright person.  LOOK WHERE YOU ARE GOING.

I always put my claymores very close to the ladder so teammates can see them...if they would bother to make the effort.
Dude give me break! It was not a categorical imperative! It is a one-line statement - it was not intended to cover every situation.

But I have seen, players climb up a ladder to a roof (NOT DEEP IN ANY ENEMY POSTION), see the claymore and pause for second and probably think the same thing I do! What a jerk for closing me off from this position! Pause, a second more, than climb up - BOOM! And then probably punished the sniper - but you are not getting the message. . . the "punish"-message is not sinking into your synapses as pattern to be avoided.

Get the message you are responsible for you mines/claymores - and most players don’t care/or like the fact that you think you’re the only one playing the game - or wanting to use that position (roof). Stop closing-in your own team is the point, figure it out.
