• Are there any mobos that support AGP and PCI-E?

I know of one, here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813157097

Do you know of any others?

- It has to have a 8x AGP slot and a 16x PCI-E slot
- Preferrably SLI-compatible, with two 16x PCI-E slots
- supports at least 3 GB of RAM
- Socket 939
- Good reviews, good with OCing.

People that lead me to good results or at least try get karma.

Thanks.

AsRock Dual-series do. Both for s939 Athlon and Intel whatchamacallthem. The Athlon one is upgradable to a 940, also (Called "Future CPU-Board" or something).

Website

Oh yeah, and it's a "Best Buy"-product, with several awards. And cheap too! OC:able, yes! I've got the 939 version myself.

This mobo seems to be great for future upgrading.  What do you think?

I run the SATAll board, With Bios update from techpowerup you will get well over 250 FSB The multiplier is adjustable, if your processor allowes it. I have an FX-55, @2.8 Useing the AMD stock heatpipe it came with.

I also run both vidio cards with my board. Can use up to 4 monitors. Duel channel ram support is good. One thing, Dont use the onboard socalled gigabit lan, Its not good at all. better off useing an add in Lan card. This goes for there newer boards also, check the LAN's chip to see if its crap or not.

All in all this is one of the best boards ive ever owned, and ive owned alot and usually give them away frequently because of upgradeing. But ive had this board a year and i plan on useing it for atleast another. The option of also useing the AM2 socket with the add on board(that has 4 DDR2 slots also) is a plus, and you have to buy that from ASRock. Or find one on the net someplace.

if i were you id personally go for the intel version and get a C2D, im getting one soon, will outperform the AMD one by far

Oh, one thing to keep in mind, the PCIe slot on all these boards is limited to 4x, so the new 8800 series graphic cards wont work in them AT ALL.  But any others will work just not as fast as a normal 16x speed

Why is the PCI-E slot limited to 4x, it says it is a PCI-E 16x slot. Can you elaborate a little.

Also @ haffeysucks, I don't think you'll find a board that supports both AGP and PCI-E and is SLI compatible. I know this board has 2 PCI-E slots but one's a 1x slot.

On what boards? ALL the boards Ive owned from ASRock with AGP and PCIExpress are 16X. Where pretell did you get that info? Only down side to a couple of there old ones was the AGP was 4X but besides that The PCIExpress slots are 16X.

I researched my ass off before buying, the product info ALWAYS says its 16x speed, which means it will support the cards (if you look at the PCIe 1x slots and the PCIe 16x speed slots, theyre TOTALY different sizes!)

It just means that thats the type of slot, not necessarily the speed of the slot.  I asked on a few forums (www.overclockers.co.uk -> forums -> motherboards, theres a huge thread about the DUAL VSTA intel board, i asked a few questions there and what i got was that the slot is onlr 4x speed.)

Do a little benchmark research, and dont just look at the scores, read the WHOLE article about the motherboard and im sure it says in there that the slot only runs at 4x speed.

Being honest, youy wont notice a huge difference in framerates, maybe a loss of 5 or so

Its still the best upgrade path for anyone with a good AGP card though, since its the only agp mobo that supports the new Conroe processors, so, you could get a conroe now, and then when you wanna upgrade your vid card, get a much better mobo and the card

Be sure to do this trick if your BIOS has the option so that it will dedicate more focus on a particular slot depending on which graphics card you want to use.  http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=54170
