The best modern assualt gun is the M468 it totaly rocks... it has all the same features as the M4 but it fires the Rem. 6.8 cal ammunition which is almost twice as powerfull as the .223... this results in an amazing gun with exelent accurasy, agility, durability, and firepower...

and did you guys know you can buy this gun (in a semi-auto version) for only around $1500... plus you can rig it out with laser sights, compact stock, red dot scope, muzzle brakes and suppressors... pretty sweet shit... i am going to get one as soon as i am 18... (about 2 months from now)

Figure another 250 to 400$ on the lower half depending on your trigger/stock/grip config.
And as for what to do with it. Use it for it's purpose. Shooting. Preferably at 4 legged creatures or paper.
ETA:: Also... enjoy spending about 16$ per 20 rounds of ammo, if you can even find it. For practical purposes a .223/5.56x45mm is in every way sufficient for most applications of a civilian and you can find ammo for around 5$/20 now in comparison.
AKA... 1/3 the ammo cost. Not to mention the steep price of 6.8SPC magazines required to even feed the beast reliably.

the HK416 looks pretty neat, its pretty much a revamped M4 thats more reliable than the standard M4.

H&K G36K lightweight, medium sized, good caliber, good sights, doesn't jam -at all- has a folding stock, lots of add-ons, C-mag made for it, low recoil, magazines clamp together, etc, etc. Need I say more?
Whats it matter really what the type of rifle u all think is the best? Any Rifle, any rifle, can be the best rifle. Marksmanship is what its all about. There are so many replies on here from ppl who have probably never seen or used a rifle outside of a videogame. I have fired the M16A2, M4, M14, AK-74, and oh yes, even the M1 garand amongst a few other LMG's.
I been a Marine for the past 5 years(and counting) and the conclusion i come to is that the rifle matters little, but its how u shoot it, If u even have the balls to do so.
But if the question is which is the preferred weapon, I'd personally choose the the AK class. They are indeed a powerful weapon. Its good for us that most of those sons a bitches dont know how to shoot so well, cuz that 7.62 round fucks shit up.
