Say what you boys want... But I say the C7A2 is the best.
It has many less problems than an M16, with better grips, and higher quality for everything IMO.
I'd trust it in battle.

Better grips?

They use A2 furniture. Same as the M16A2.

Are you serious??? The M16 is a well built rifle.... Was the XM8 cancelled by the US Military??? I would like to use that when I enlist.
It sure was.  Shame too, that rifle looked kickass.
It wasnt really cancelled they just got in trouble for just giving the contract to H&K without other corps getting a chance at winning it. In the next few years you will see different gun makers try to meet the regs of the US military and the XM8 already meets them so we will see if someone else can do better.

I was talking about a standard one. Yes, you are correct about being the same for the same A2 models.
I don't care about anything else. It's a versatile assault rifle with auto/semi firing modes, and a scope. Which is why I picked it as my vote for best rifle.

It's called the StG-44, not the MP-43.
MP-44* I'm pretty sure.

yeah the development from what i read is "Suspended". arent we using the FN SCAR already with some of our special forces?

the Mp-44 was the first name but after it entered service it was designated StG-44 which means Assault rifle in german (StG)

Cougar, you stated that the M-16 is inaccurate, either you are a complete idiot, or don't know shit about the M-16.  I spent 8 yrs in the U.S. Marine Corps as a GRUNT, and I have never failed to get my expert  rifle badge.  From the prone position I can put 10 out of 10 rounds in an 8 inch group (that's about the size of your face) at 500 yards with no scope, just peep sights, tell me how inaccurate it is now.  Sorry I didn't use the quote box, as I haven't figured that out yet.  Favorite all time rifle has to be an M-1 with a nice Leopold scope, it'll knock your ass dead at 700 yards.  And no its still not a sniper rifle.

Leopolds are pretty big arent they? I dont really care for the M-16 that much, I do however wish we would adopt a new rifle besides the FN SCAR like the G-36 or the god damn XM-8...

I've shot one in Vietnam, last Christmas. It's has quite a lot of kick to it...

Mcminty.
The AK-74 would be a real treat if the 47 had too much recoil for you. The 5.45x39 cartridge produces next to no felt recoil. Its an HV round unlike the 7.62, but it's a nice performer.
Good idea... shame they are illegal in Australia.

To me it had a bit of kick because I had only shot a .22 long rifle before. That is a glorified capgun.

EDIT: Here's the M14 EBR...

Whats wrong with the SCAR?

To me thats what a weapon should be. Looks hideous but it's designed to perform, not win beauty contests.

Only reason why I wouldn't list it in this thread is because it hasn't been extensively proven over a significant amount of years.

The Mk14 Mod 0

Damn fine looking peice. Only issue with it is the cut down version almost defeats the purpose of a .308 alltogether, so in essence, why carry heavier ammo, less magazine capacity, and a bulkier carbine, for minimal performance increase and heavier recoil.

Thats kind of the reason why i said something otherwise, but the XM-8 i guess isnt reallly proven. the FN F-2000 would be a cool gun buts its just too freaking big. Maybe the G-36

Ha.  I just clicked on that link to see what it had to say...  The article defeats itself.  It lists the M16 as the second best.  They've already had a billion upgrades, I mean an M16A1 is better than an M16....

A .22 will still kill you...  Competition shooters use it and if you can shoot like them, than you don't really need a big round.

That's something I'm going to have to see before I believe.  I'm not saying it isn't possible, I'm just saying it's not probable.  There are too many factors that go into things at a distance that far, such as wind, air temp, barrel temp, humidity, ground temp, and so on.  Not to mention that you're going to have a hard time seeing my face at 500 yards because your front sight post is going to cover it up if that's what you're aiming at.

Well..  If I was to be given any rifle I wanted, I would have to go with a PKM or a PKT.  The only problem i can see with this weapon is that the older models ejected shells to the left.. in front of your face.. The modern(hence PK-M) solved this issue and ejected as well as fed shells to the right.  An average of 100 contimuos rounds before malfunction looks bad on it's specsheet, but firing 100 rounds nonstop is also inconsistent with the proper method of use for the weapon.  In the end, it beats out the BAR and the M249 only because of looks and slight nuances that please my eye a bit more than others, but from the use I have seen at some shootouts, it is a fine rifle.   Kalshnikov rifles are ok in my book.

(BTW-by "shootout" I meant organize automatic weapon demonstration events.. not like a battle, lol)
