You are an American so of course you are going to say that, you feel safer in your bed knowing that your government and military has influence across the globe and can strike at any potential threats quickly and easily, protecting you and your family.
Its the non Americans who in the present global climate are scared shitless by what the US sees as a 'potential' threat. Not trying to rub it in your faces, but after the fuck up in Iraqi and the bullying and threatening of Iran and the 'Axis of Evil'. Every country on that list is now arming themselves to the teeth and this is having a knock on effect and could potentially see the kind of global arming we saw in the run up to ww1.......... I'm not worried about what America can do to me. I'm worried about her foreign policies helping to ignite something which may set off something even the military might of the USA and her allies can't control.
You're right, I do feel more safe in our current configuration. Classic debate: do we or do we not isolate from the world? I'd much rather have the world police itself and the US stay at home, but I feel we would be more vulnerable, and the world doesn't seem capable or willing to behave itself. As a result, we have bases everywhere to quickly respond when we feel necessary.
Bullying and threatening of Iran? They are the largest global contributor to terrorism monetarily and it is a threat to the region and the world when they start cooking up nukes. It cannot be construed that the US threatened Iran and they started developing nukes as a defensive mechanism. Amedinutjob has stated his goals very clearly at the UN in regard to Israel and the US. If you feel safer with Iran running around with nukes, that's your prerogative. I, for one, do not.
