As you can read this happened the 3rd week of November. The local news in my state said it hasn't been reported up til now to avoid any public panic from reporting it outright when it happened.

Should this have been reported when it happened or were officials right to wait after the mess was cleaned up?

FYI- I haven't ate at Taco Bell in about 5 years; ever since I opened that bean burritto to see what was inside.....blah....

They should. Remember SARS anyone? China didn't say shit till till 4 months after the crisis in China.

There's a difference between telling the medical community and telling the general public though.

Still better to warn the general public about wtf is happening.

And then what?  Large amounts of people who think the world is ending have to be controlled.  China should have told the medical community, but perhaps not the public.

Right. Your logic is to not tell the people buying the e. coli invested shit at Toxic Smell that they food they're buying could kill them, literally. No, let's not warn anyone, just let them buy that burrito and eat death. You sir, are stupid.

It was at a Taco Bell in NJ.  Read the article...it seems like New Jersey and Long Island Taco Bells were infected.  Based on the fact that it's restaurants all over, the infection seems likely to be at a Taco Bell food processing plant which prepares the food that is shipped and NOT caused by a Taco Bell employee/customer who didn't was their hands after going to the bathroom (nasty!).

about the only 2 fast food places i eat anymore are chic-fil-a and subway, they have a sink right next to the kitchen door and as soon as the employees enter they wash, whether or not they washed in the bathroom.

Culver's isn't too bad and Subway is always good.  I'm already not feeling well today, I can't read any more of this thread.  Yuck.

Mexican food is just downright nasty anyway, so I don't eat it.  No problems here.

Oh man....this is so fucking rad! My grandma is always giving me shit for eating at a mom and pop taco place (best tacos on teh planet). When I got her a taco she called it a "mess" because, like true beaner tacos, it was made with shredded beef. She fervently believes that taco bell is authentic mexican food and that if I keep going to my fav place I going to get E.coli. How the tables have turned...heh heh, oh how they have turned...

The best chain restaurants to get tacos and burritos are Qdoba, Chipotle and Baja Fresh.  Taco Bell would be my last choice, e. coli or not.

There are times when it is right to warn the public of infestation, so long as you go to the effort of (in good time) blaming the correct entity. For example, if Taco Hell turns out to have used poisoned cabbage for their food, then plaster that on the news. There's a bit of difference between it and an employee not having washed up. It's a sign of bad faith in consumers to keep things like this hush-hush and I for one, as a paying, periodic Taco Hell customer, do not appreciate the shit out of it.

And I thought people were all against cover-ups, here.

Yikes ~ It appears over 65 people now have e-coli from eating that stuff.

I noticed at Taco Bell they use a machine to squirt your food into a taco shell, etc. Looks like the same goes for it coming out of your rear-end too ...
