the thing is most of the time people are swearing isnt like how they use it in real war like when there getting shot at, people online mostly swear to discriminate each other when someone punishes, does something stupid, tries to start fights, etc etc etc

I swear when I'm pissed off. If I just did something stupid, like crash into a wall with a car, I will say "Fuck". I am infuriated at my own ineptness. Also if I drive over, or walk in front of a friendly mine, (It has happned once or twice,) instead of punishing, I say "Fuck."

If I am killed by an enemy that has proven to be above my capabilities to take on, I will say "Fuck" if I feel like it. I don't say "Fuck you, you son of a bitch," because I am not annoyed at my opponent's skill in taking me down, I am annoyed at my ineptness to take him on and defeat him.

Sometimes I will yell at my teammates, "Somone take care of that fucking Tank/APC/Sniper," not as an insult to anyone, but meerly to prod people into doing something that will better their good time in BF2 - i.e: killing an enemy so the team mates live beyond three seconds. The addition of a swear word adds seriousness to the situation, and I am nearly always assured an intelegent responce.

Sometimes I even go further, and if a skilled Spec. Ops had managed to plant C4 charges and dealt with the threat of an enemy tank, I say "Nice fucking job man." If a man on a Stinger accomplishes his goal of shooting an annoying enemy jet, I say "Excellent fucking shot man," or my favourite, when a fellow Sniper managed to headshot an enemy who was 1/8th of a second away from knifing me, was a moving target and to whome I was completely oblivious to, the guy could have made a tiny error in aiming and hit me instead, I yelled "WHO THE FUCK JUST SAVED MY ARSE JUST THEN!?" When a meek 'voice' typed back "LOL, Me." I said "FUCK ME THAT WAS THE BEST FUCKING SHOT I HAVE SEEN IN A FUCKING LONG TIME!! YOU FUCKING RULE DUDE, I OWE YOU ONE!"

In a crappy world, I would be kicked for such high compliments, and the person who I was complimenting would be denied the opportunity for further crude praises. That's not right.

For further discussion on this topic, please refer to an identiacally titled topic on swearing that I started, and have recently turned into a petition to Punkbuster in abandoning, or at least toning down it's fucking gay-arsed language filters.

It's a pain in the butt but it really isn't necessary. I for one don't want to hear some little 12 year old kid misusing words he doesn't understand in the first place. You know that eceryother word out of these kids (some) is the F word.Beleive me, it's probably a good thing they have this restriction.

WHO CARES IF PEOPLE SWEAR?!
If a 12 year old swears, does it mean anything? Hell no!

What is wrong with the words in the first place? They don't sound bad. If the problem was that the combination of letters led to a nasty sounding word, like "Grotto" or "Moist" then those would be swear words, but they're not. Fuck, shit and crap are some of the best sounding words in the English language. They are short, sharp, and to the point. Are you offended because they mean an unpleasent noun or verb? Does it bother you that "Making Love" means the same as 'Fuck", or that "Faecal matter" means "Shit" and "Crap"? They mean the same thing, so technically, if one should type "Making Love" for any reason in a BF2 game they should be kicked.

Hell, "Fuck" is a better word for describing the process of "Making Love" anyway.

And who cares if a 12 year old, 10 year old or two year old says a swear word. Did you know that my first word was 'Hello" and my first fully constructed sentance was "I shit my bloody nappies," (mirrored from my father of course.)

Children loose their innocence at a very early age now anyway. At six I saw "Jurassic park" at the movies, and was temporarily shocked by the lawyer who gets chomped off the toilet seat by the T-Rex. It was my first look at the media induced violence that strips young people of their 'innocence,' but I wasn't harmed by the experiance, in fact I began my love of paleontology and yearned to be the next Dr. Alan Grant, (aptly played by New Zealand actor Sam Neil.)

Swearing is no different from violence. It is not considerd a 'good thing' by the powers that be, but we are exposed to it in a daily basis wether we like it or not. Little Jimmy who has been protected from swearwords in a violent war game, may overhear his dad coming home, stubbing his toe on the door and muttering "fuck." I dare say Jimmy may learn the word, and maybe use it, (honestly, who save Ned Flanders can seriously say that they have never swore... actually, Ned Flanders has sworn, even my grandmother has sworn.)

The swear filters imposed on us mearly add an unwanted restriction on our enjoyment, and do not, nor will ever 'Protect the "innocent" young people from dangerous language.'

What a sack of crap.
