Well I decided to buy this and its a pretty decent game.
Single player is good and the graphics detail is fantastic.
Multiplayer is spot on found it better if it was at leaat 2v2, only real bad points are the lack of online players and the nightmare trying to find decent games to join.

I haven't beaten the story mode (too much fun playing Online), but from what I've seen/heard I doubt it because This deals only with the Americans in Normandy, so I doubt you get to see him.

*Shudders*  My god the wreckage....So much destruction....

For the uninformed, your tasked with surviving for 15 minutes.  Their are 3 bridges leading into the town (Carentan) and you have to hold those as long as you can with the limited resources you have.  You also have possession of the Town hall and Church, which you can use as a barracks to produce more Men and 57mm Anti-Tank guns.  Basically the whole town is in ruins to begin with, but then the points near the bridges are blasted by scripted artillery from German Assaults.  From there you fall back to the town hall, which is then annihilated by more scripted Artillery.  From there you fall back to the Church to make your last stand (approx 5 min left).  Under constant attack from 3 directions, garrisoning buildings is your best bet to make your infantry live, but they will likely be blasted out by German Stug's.  Plus you have your own artillery at your disposal, which adds to further destruction.  Basically, by the time your reinforcements arrive the entire town is in ruins.

^^^^ So do I. The Counter Attack mission isn't that hard. Holding that God Damn hill is hard. Its especially hard when you have no tanks, and your infantry is constantly getting raped by snipers, flame throwers, mortars, then the 5 tanks at the end. Everytime, saved by the timer, always.

Hardest level was the taking of the hill (the one that you get a medal for taking in under an hour). That one took me a few tries. Only medal I don't have now is the last level, damn Canadians keep closing the gap too fast!

It won't be top quality but you can still play it. I doubt it looks bad even at low settings. Really detailed game...

i play coh.

great fun, when you're winning.

it's exceedingly hard to comeback in the game, like most other RTS games.

Company of Heroes is a great game. I play it more than BF2 now. I cant play online though. (Illegal downloading/burning FTW!) But I play LAN instead. I love the way each and every squad knows where to hide and where to shoot from, rather than get me to get each one to get into the right position.

And the buildings become more and more dilapidated after each hit. The left overs from a destroyed tank stay on the spot for the whole game (unless someone fires artillery there or an Axis engineer squad dismantles it for Ammo.)

It's just like a real battlefield. Great game.

axis dragon teeth bugged to hell, gg. meanwhile allies barbed wire is unbreakable with tier two vehicles.

CoH needs more 1v1 maps, badly.

(This picture is taken on the same map in a later game for the sole purpose of getting this image)
After
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/996/defenseswq9.jpg

Basically the Allies had to cross into this little French Town, and my SS Panzer Division was tasked with holding it.  The only spot the allies had any success crossing was this part, the northernmost crossing (Due to a hidden battery of Anti Tank guns, Snipers, Mines and other obstacles near the other two crossings).  Having secured the Church in the background, my Panzers and Infantry slowly began to push the Allies to the bridge.  From their, a stalemate ensued as that central ground was in range of both sides artillery.  As I settled in and began building my defenses, I repulsed multiple attacks and artillery barrages.  Eventually, a unit of Flame thrower equipped engineers supported by SS infantry eliminated the Allied Howitzer battery.  From there, my Panzers could break through and rout the Allies.  Those emplacements you see in the bottom picture eliminated a dozen allied vehicles and countless soldiers.  Oh and each major crater is mined to prevent enemy infantry from stopping to take cover.

The beauty is that craters and vehicle wrecks last the entire game, so you can really feel the landscape change (That wrecked M10 is the only vehicle hulk left, all others were blasted by artillery).  Cover is shredded, buildings take multiple impacts (note the house and church) and it really feels like a war zone.  Infantry squads have their own basic AI level and know where to take cover, and can successfully use that cover against the enemy.  A must have for any RTS fan.
i played the demo---wow.  i'm buying it tomorrow
thanks for the game dude
