So, I guess the question could be asked...can neo-conservativism be classified as a personality disorder and then in which sub-class? Narcissism sub-group would be my first guess. Any psychology 101 A or B students want to take a stab at this?

This does correlate though with the post-WW2 studies attempting to figure out where "fascism" comes from as well as a few other projects on authoritarianism and torture. Need to go dig up the links...

So I grabbed a good headline...sue me. That just begs the question though, how many Bush supporters are crazies, seeking a "father figure" to invest their implicit trust, or are simply mis-informed about the issues?

I wouldn't say those two are mututally exclusive. From the results of the study, the misinformed and ill informed ones were the ones looking for authority figures. Silly bush supporters.

I'm a Bush supporter, I have a father figure in which I trust, and the "issues" you infer to are not matters of fact, rather of opinion. I am not mis-informed about anything. I have an opinion.

Not that Bush supporters are psychotic, but that psychotics (in the aggregate) tend to support more conservative/authoritarian personalities.

The same trends have also been found in serial murderers, rapists, and pedophiles. Most of the big names we've sensationalized for this, such as Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and Timothy McVeigh just to name a FEW off a very long list have stated they voted Republican up and down the ticket. Bundy was even a campaign worker for about 6 months. This matches a trend on a prison study they did in which 80% or so violent offenders which had voted, voted Republican in the last election before they were incarcerated. With white collar criminals I'll assume that number is higher...just an educated guess. I think that leaves dope-dealing hippies and a few prostitutes to have elected Democrats. It is funny though how these studies get magically scrubbed from existence during an election year...I'm still looking for the one that Planned Parenthood did in which surprisingly 74% of all abortion recipients claimed they were both "politically conservative" and "religiously Christian".

Disagreeing with a fact because it doesn't fit one's black and white interpretation of the world does not make it an "opinion". "Truthiness" has been a running gag reel that has given liberal and libertarian satirist/comedians a much too easy job for the last 6 years, so every time something like that is spouted publically, you guarantee Stewart's and Colbert's job security for another day. Things like my favorite Rumsfeld quote, "Of course Iraq had WMD, why do you think our troops were wearing chemical gear when we invaded Iraq?" You just can't argue with logic like that.
