Wow, you seem very interested in what happened 30 years ago here.  It wasn't like the old Iraq, except in one thing, that dictatorship was also supported by US.  It was more like the 40-50's in the US where you couldn't be leftist.  I'm sure you know about McCarthyism, only that here the militars supported by US tortured the "leftists", and between 15k and 20k are missing or dead.

With the support of United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, the junta continued the Dirty War, the ongoing disappearance, torture, and murder of thousands of suspected political dissidents and leftists during the junta's rule

Kerry was right, you should have stayed at school.  Before talking of something please do some research, you don't know a shit about this and you only post it to troll.

I'm sure you are familiarized with the HDI, so let's see if Argentina and Iraq are the same:

List of countries by Human Development Index

Argentina has a high HDI, a.k.a Highly Developed Country and Iraq isn't even low ranked because of the Civil War courtesy of US.

Wow, very defensive aren't you.  And it is in the news now isn't it?  So these events may have happened in the past, it is a current event now.

And by the way serge, I do not know a lot about Argentina.  I have never been there, hence the discussion.  But you have never been to Iraq, Afghanistan, or Africa right?  Yet you talk about those places.  So relax a bit.

These episodes happened 30 years ago, and activists here march today so we don't forget the horrendous acts of these assholes militars.  But today we are a cool place to visit.  I wonder if US is a safe place to visit.  I've been there a lot of times, and I can tell you here at night you can walk, but in NYC, MIA or LA, I don't think so.  Let's find out what The Travelers Digest has to say:

US: As a quick convenience store run in the nite will reveal to anyone, this is a dangerous country. The people are heavily armed, & prone to random outbursts of violence. Not a good combination.

And can you ever have a discussion without bringing up the US or Israel?

Now you post this because I talk about Iraq?  Who told you I've never been to Africa? Besides, there's a little thing call TV and you also have the internet.  And finally you have the old fashioned way to get knowledge, it's called book.

You are only posting to troll.  Why don't you post we are growing at 9 or 10% rate?  You post some crap, that happened 30 years ago, only to troll.  And as I said before, with the support of US.

Not very nice to rip on people's education like Kerry, serge.  You won't get nods of approval on that any more than Kerry did.  In fact, the education level of our military personnel is above average by the studies that have been done on the subject.  Please refrain from talking that way to anyone who has served in the military.  Thanks.

I flame?  Lol.  You created a thread only to bother me, and I do the flaming, that's the most hilarious thing I ever heard.  I told you before, I don't have any problems with America or Jews, but I don't like Bush or Zionists.  In fact I spent a lot of my vacations in US and I'm happen to be Jewish.  So, I think I can talk all I want about Israel.

But is that all we are allowed to discuss here?  God forbid we bring up other stories from other countries.  And no, I did not create this to bother you.  Get over yourself.

Ok, let's talk about Argentina, but you should talk with knowledge.  You only found an article talking about the activists and posted "This place sounded like the old Iraq".  Well, those activists are trying to get justice done (too late IMO).  Of course what happened here can't be changed.  It's history, it happened, it was a shit, talking for what my parents told me and the things I studied in school.  But if you wanna talk about this issue, read some shit first.  If you want to discuss this issue seriously I'll be the first person to get involved, because we don't deny this happened, Argentinians were the victims, so we have nothing to hide.

I need to correct you.  I found an article about activists, and found out about secret torture rooms and stuff like that.  That is what I was talking about, not the protestors.

The education level of the military would obviously include usmarine2007.  And by his name I think he's a Marine, not in the Army.

Well, I admit it guys.  It wasn't the happiest thing to say.  I apologize for being rude as Kerry was.  It's just I'm amazed how easily you usmarine can make fun of what happens in Iraq.  It's true, I overreacted.  But you are trolling all the way.

Serge, forgive me but I don't see why you're offended by the OP... If nothing else, it's an opportunity to remember all those dictatorships that were supported by the CIA during Kissinger's days (same thing happened in Greece for example, which led to the Turkish occupation of northern Cyprus blah blah blah)

Also I consider riots against that prick Conti to be a good thing... because frankly him being under house arrest sounds like a pat in the back.

Not a very difficult thing to do.

I'm not offended by the OP, I'm offended by the disrespectful "This place sounded like the old Iraq" or "Argentina sounds worse than Gitmo".  We don't deny the 20-30k people disappeared, we remember them everyday.  Argentina was the victim here.  And Iraq is the victim now, so maybe usmarine is right.

I don't think thats what he was saying, or what he was trying to draw attention to. I think he was highlighting that people were dragged from their families and homes and "disappeared"; much like happened in Iraq under Saddam. And where was Gitmo brought up from? The first person to mention it is you in this last reply!!

And nowhere does he draw any sort of comparison with 'Old' Iraq and 'Modern' Argentina; as you say it did all happen 30 years ago there and was still happening as recently as 5 years ago in Iraq.

That was another thread by usmarine "Argentina sounds worse than Gitmo".  And comparing this with Iraq is disrespectful to Iraqis.  Here we suffered an extreme McCarthyism, where leftists (not always leftists btw) were taken away and disappeared, approx 20k-30k.
