Hello Guys,

I`ve got a couple of questions..

Is it worth it to buy another 1GB of RAM for this PC

P4 2.8 Ghz 533FSB
1.0 GB RAM
Ati X850XT
Seagate 120 GB 2MB Cache/Buffer

Will I get much faster load times? Will it make much difference?

Another question I have is : Is there someone that has an old harddisk for me?, like 8 MB cache/buffer, I dont need much space, just a faster hdd.

1 GB more will definitely make a difference. Faster loading times and zero lag after pressing "Join Game".
You'll dig it.

2MB cache is little, but with 2GB RAM, you'll manage with it just fine.

I need around tree fiddy.

yeah id recomend the extra gig of ram, helps with the stuttering and lag. you never know you might be able to turn some of ure settings up

Yeah, I bought 1 gig of ram this year. Helped a lot! Could turn some of the settings up a bit, loads faster.
So if you are in a server that switches between lots of maps, you will always be one of the first ones to join.
Im not that good with computers, so maybe the other things with your pc will make the extra gig not that fast, but it helped with my computer. But it wont be any worse! So go for it

Ok! I think I will buy another GB, The problem now is,

I have 2 slots filled with Identical chips of 512MB/piece, I have 2 slots empty, Do I need to buy 1x 1GB stick, or 2x 512MB....

It depends on the type of ram. Dual channel needs to be matched up.

Yeah I know, So I will have 2 types of Dual Channel, like 2 sticks identical, and 2 other sticks but identical too...

You should buy a 250GB WD 2500KS SATA HD with 16MB cache. It's a moderately fast drive and it's only $80USD at most e-tailers.

You´ve got 2x512, now, get other 2x512.

ej, 2x512 @ 333 Mhz (old one )
the new pair need to be at least 333 Mhz. if its higher, hence the other pair works at 333 mhz, your new pair will only work at the lower speed.

Now, you could also check your mainboard specs and see what type of socket do you have and if you can get another processor with a higher FSB and L2 cache. This could also improve your pc, but it isn't as usual to upgrade this section as it is with RAM memory.
