I can call you a naive moron right there. The game is "evil" god your a dunce, no object is evil. It physically CANT be. A nuke isnt evil. The use of a nuke is evil. An object can only become "evil" through human usage, therefore your friend was the cause of his own demise. Not the game. Just because your friend is weak minded and lacks self control.

Doesnt every game require time invested? Youve played BF2 according to your stats for 300+ hours. Thats a lot of time "invested" in the game. If you join a clan in any game, you have to play with them often enough. Thats time invested. You are so fucking blind to your own stupidity its funny. If you dont have the time to "invest" in a game then dont play it, but the game isnt bad because you are too busy to play it and others arent. Its not like you are being FORCED to play the game nonstop, just like any other game you can play as long as you want to, no one is holding a gun to your head making you "invest" more time than you choose to.

Killaer I'm not going to repeat this again... the game is no longer hardcore. The phenomenon of 'time investment' that you keep talking about does not exist anymore. A player can raise all the in-game gold, items and experience necessary by playing less than an hour a day. Grinding has been minimized because they basically give away gold and xp now (gold = daily quests, quick and easy, high rewards | xp = increased experience gain from mobs and quests at lvl20+). There is no hardcore element to this game anymore, and players such as myself that admittedly did enjoy the hardcore and competitive element of the game are now moving on.

As Vilham and Dragonclaw very wisely said: no game is inherently 'evil' or time wasting. A game only becomes an evil influence in someones' life if they make it that way. Blizzard aren't designing games with in-built crack-addiction properties or character-destroying properties. World of Warcraft (and Battlefield 2 for that matter) do not have 'goals' and 'missions' that require you to specifically spend 1000hours of your life in order to attain something. It is all choice. The entertainment and enjoyment you derive from gaming is defined by your own choices and preferences. Bitching about the way other people play games - or labeling a game a failure or an evil behemoth because you don't agree with it - is like saying nobody should wear the colour green because you personally find it distasteful. Haha, I'm full of awful analogies in this thread. Don't know what has come over me...

I suppose nobody is MAKING you invest time into the game, but it IS (or WAS as uzique) necesary to put in some serious time into the game to improve your character significantly. You NEEDED to have 1 or 2 or 3 hours free to do an instance. If you wanted to start hardcore raiding, you needed to set up a schedule. You're right, you could avoid that stuff, but if you did, you wouldn't have the top tier gear, and those players who DID have the time to spare grinding did. I don't know the state of the game right now, but I do know that if you wanted to get better gear, you DID need to put several hours in at a time, and that's just frustrating.

Of course, that's a choice. But if you don't take that choice, your character won't be as good as the people who DO run instances and who DO get the phat lewts.

About the clan thing, it all depends. Ususally clans don't have you requiring to set up a schedule and to organize 40 or 20 people to put down several hours down to play together. It's usually much more casual.

I could be wrong. Either way, WoW is a boring peice of shit game that consists of a munduane combat system and horrible and repetitive quests. Basically you sit there killing the same reskinned and resized purple ogre for 30 minutes and level up.

For fucks sake, i dont recall posting asking for a debate on the problems people face when they cant control addiction to a game like WoW. I just asked for a fucking update on what people had been up to. Still the same old, what did i expect after not posting for a couple months.

Anyway, i hear what you're saying Uzique, i got the same kinda feeling from a few of my mates who introduced me to the game who had been playing since the start. In some ways, its a good thing, for new players such as myself. But then i see a lot of the nerfing happening as a lead up to the new level cap, gives a chance for people to get up to speed and really see what the harder instances are really like before theres no point in doing them anymore. Also on the PvP aspect, between incredibly well specced players and pre-mades, anyone average player who walked into a BG was just free honour and i think in closing the gap on gear between players could suggest skill is being made paramount in BG situations rather than being dictated by gear. I dunno, perhaps im totally wrong but thats how i'd do things and especially as the new level cap is on its way in the near future (or so a lot of people hope).

Probably would be more fun with a clan.
grinding with paladins is not new to me especially when they nerfed the paladin a few years ago. thats why i stopped for good and threw away my WoW CD.

the problem with paladins from my days of WoW, is that after the nerf, you have to spent 24/7 getting cool gear and weapons just to close the power gap difference between paladins and other classes ( i.e. mages, assassins, warriors).  i have seen mages beat the snot out of paladins in PvP

I hate fukin mages now me and a mate were doing a random 2vs2 during quests we came across a lower level druid who decided to put PVP on so we killed him and along came some mage about the same level as me (level 40) and he kept freezing me and every time we got his health low he would reheal and freeze us and then disappear I fukin hated it

oh yeh if people played in PvP (player vs Player) you would not believe the amount of teamwork that goes on, I was amazed I was going round in big groups capping the flags in order to win the round and defending bases. Not bad tbh though every1 wants the kill just like bf2

One of the best games out there if you have extra time. I quit it during my studies and now I'm back with a new character (lvl 26 now).
Man it's still great fun, hope to get some pvp action soon!

What the hell are you smoking man? I have never seen any teamwork in a BG ever. People run around like idiots with no team effort at all unless you are very very lucky or you are grouping with friends/guildies.

BG is a mixed bag full stop, with pre-mades and twinks it was all about honour farming, not necessarily playing to win always, but 2.4 has bought about an end to that in some ways. I personally dont like PvP much, mainly due to the fact Warlocks are a bit nerfed now and a lot of mellee class who use fear break trinkets are just a fucking pain and even more so when you got 2/3/4 to deal with. THAT SAID....my gear is PvE and my spec would be considered PvE also so that puts me at a disadvantage straight away. I still play the odd BG and really can have some fun but not so much when some Warriors 3 hit me

I enjoy the PvE aspect of the game so much tho, i enjoy the feeling of downing a boss using the correct tactics, i enjoy working with my friends to do so and its quite hard to match a lot of the things WoW has brought to online gaming (in my opinion).

Hey Dragonclaw, how long have you been playing WoW for?

Wow, two months ago I was lvl 68, didnt have a guild and was full time pvp'ing for the gear. Now, I have reached 70, have a full pvp epic set with all the cool enchants, found a guild, farming Kara, Raiding Zul'Aman, took down a world boss, and having more fun now than ever.
