I have had a zBoard since I got BF2 for Chirstmas, I think it is great. You really have access to all the features of BF with a great setup. No more memorizing the keyboard setup, the buttom is labeled. It's pretty nice. I used a keyboard since BF 1942, but I think that my zBoard is a great improvement to my playing, if not the same... LOL...
I smashed the shit outta the one I had.
I think it's something you have to make up your own mind on. Some people like it, some people hate it. For me, I just couldn't get used to it after doing FPS on a regular keyboard for as long as they've been around. Just took too much to reverse 14 years of doing it on a normal keyboard.
Some people swear by it though.

Id have to agree with that... My boss has one, used it once and went back to his normal keyboard. I setup one for a client, used it for 5 minutes and didnt think much of it.IBKCKNURASS wrote:

Like ya work mate says, it feels cheap.
My M$ keyboard does that, thought it was just me, might have to try something else.Amunhotep wrote:
Then i used a saitek eclipse, has nice looks but it has a problem with simultanious use of 3 buttons which makes it sux on FPS-games.
If you've been using QWERTY keyboard for years it could be hard for you to play with Z-board. After years of CS I adapted to usual keyboard and can't use anything else. If you use QWERTY and can move, use voip, change weapons etc. without looking, don't buy zBoard. Just my opinion.
I use the Nostromo N52 and absolutely love it. At first the learning curve was a bit steep, I had to remap the jump button to the orange mode button because the thumb button was too uncomfortable to use.
I think it sux
I would say the same thing. If you have been playing for awhile, stick with what ya got. I got mine right after I started playing, so when I am playing on someone else's PC, it takes me awhile to get comfortable. But I truly think its superior if you train with it. Commanding is much easier, with the big squad buttons and also comm (VoIP) is great with a quick left thumb buttons to squad leaders and the Commander. I got mine for $40.00 plus $20.00 for the Battlefield 2 keyset, that looks awesome. I had a $20.00 rebate on that, which helped me decide to go with it. Download the coupon before you go shopping.Seth Infinite wrote:
I've got one and I like it for playing. Big movement buttons and some separation between buttons but it's a bitch for typing in game messages. The keyboard can be changed out while powered up is also nice. And, as someone said, it does feel cheap but that doesn't affect the game.
I got my Z board when I got the game so there was no transition period. If you're already playing and use to a standard keyboard you should probably stay there. If your new to the game, a Z board isn't that expensive.
Same here, the Zboard feels cheap but is affective. I fine the key layout kinda starange so typing msgs. is harder than normal.
However, Zboard has a new one coming out that combines the gaming board with a QWERTY board. This actually looks better to me . . .
It's called the Z MERC

I had a Z-board for over a year and loved it for FPS games, but I'll agree with everyone here that it feels cheap and it is difficult to type in-game messages on. I spilled a glass of Guiness on it about 2 months ago and that signaled the end of my time with a Z-board. A good friend of mine has the WolfClaw Type II, and in my opinion that's the way to go. It's clearly an extremely high quality keyboard with a special FPS section attached on the left side (much like the Z-board, but with no swappable keysets and a standard QWERT set of keys dominating the right 2/3rds of the keyboard). I used it for about a month after my Z-board bit the dust (or the stout, as the case may be), and it's hands-down the best setup for FPS games AND standard typing that I've ever come across. Exceptionally well designed and well made. It's now being marketed in the U.S. as the Wolf King Timber Wolf (http://www.wolfkingusa.com/). If you've got a good keyboard that you like but are considering getting something that might help you with your FPS gameplay, take a look at a new product that's made by the same company and that's being released here in the States sometime in March--the Wolfking Warrior (same website as above); it's essentially the FPS portion of the WolfClaw Type II sans the rest of the keyboard, so you can use your beloved standard keyboard but gain the advantage of a large and well-equipped FPS keypad--sort of a Nostromo N52 on steroids. It's what I'll probably go to to supplement my Saitek Eclipse keyboard.
I got one for birthday back in august after playing for almost 2 months. I got the BF2 keyset for it and relearned all the keys based on that and it was not too bad. I like the spacing of the buttons but if you have small hands it may not be ideal. Over all i have been pleased with it. I have used it enough that I can type all right with it also.
Whats wrong with a good old microsoft Ergo keybaord that weights 15lbs? I love mine!
I got my Zboard about a month ago and I LOVE it. I thought it would take a long time to get used to it, but after only a couple days I was INPROVING my play. When it comes to the keyboard I've always set it up so that I can use the arrow keys. But as you can imagine it can be uncomfortable to use that way. This makes it so easy. Plus since it's a USB board you can have your normal keyboard connected the whole time. I have a pull out keyboard tray so if I need to type (or my wife wants to use the computer) it's there to use. Plus it has the added benefit of being able to interchange keyboards. So it can adapt to any situation. I really like, but I can see that it may not be for everyone.... One CON: the movement keys are a little cramped. But not nearly as much as WASD...
I got it and the BF2 insert for my birthday last august. I can't stand it. I still use the Zboard but with the regular key set...kind of defeats the purpose, but its easy to swap in the other keysets for people who've never played when they want to check out a game on my PC.
As said before, if you are used to a regular keyboard stick with that.

This should be moved to hardware section imo.
