So, I was reading an article about the creation of the universe. The article was actually really a list of all the theories that exist about the creation of the universe... but I just thought "What color do you imagine NOTHINGNESS?"
I imagine it as white. Black is more like "space" to me, but "space" doesn't exist in my version of nothingness.

Black...  white would require light.  Without light, there is only black.

What if the color of nothingness is the Crayola sponsored color, 'Nothingness'?

As far as we are concerned, we can only distinguish the color black as the absence of light as collectively agreed upon.  These 'colors' are nothing more than names we have given to a collectively perceived happenstance.  The reality is that there is no definite color, as each person has degrees of black or white or red solely unique to that individual.  'Black' to me may be 'dark grey' to someone else.  In the end, such a ponderance is simply a question of personal perception vs. collective reality.

Well white only occurs when all colors of the spectrum are present in your eye. Black occurs when no colors reach your eyes. And if its 'nothingness' then that excludes light which means it must be black.

This probably makes no sense to anyone but me.

When I was a child I always thought to myself, 'what is beyond the universe?'  I always pictured vast blackness as the universe, but then brilliant white as 'whatever' was beyond the universe.  I guess thats how I imagined nothingness back then in my simplified mind, but it's still how I imagine it today.

White.

I have the idea that if the universe ended (space = blackness) then it would be empty white space.

You know what, that was exactly the same for me now that I think of it. Sharp, strong white was beyond the boundaries of universe

I guess another way of looking at this would be:

Nothingness containing something - Black
Something-ness containing everything - White

Nothingness as per area where universe does not exist, nothing.

Nothingness as per lack of sensual stimulus, black.
