First of all, in the flight planner, you should set an airport to go to. The route will then be found.

Once you are ingame, press ALT, the menu at the top will appear. Go to VIEWS -> INSTRUMENTS ( or something like that ) and press GPS. That will show you your course and the line to your destination. If you want more detailed, then go to VIEWS -> INSTRUMENTS -> MAIN PANEL and then you should find about 10 grey boxes on the main panel. Quite small, one with a small aeroplane and shit. Click on the one which looks like a star, it will take you to a large map outside of the simulation.

Well I just flew a Learjet from Wellington to Auckland. Pretty good for a first try even though I suck. I think I'll be working my way through the missions 'till I get the hang of this I think. Afterwards though I might pick up some of our southern hemisphere patrons and try to meet up with you guys.

Not if I apply speed brakes. Anyway, that was a late comment, I am using the better Dreamliner. There are no good A380s available. The ones that are you have to pay for and they don't exist as torrents or anything else.

Dreamliner > all.

I'll gather a collection later, for now I'm flying Air New Zealand. I flew to Auckland in the Learjet because most international flights from New Zealand leave from Auckland and I needed to get there somehow and why fly commercial when I have a perfectly good Learjet?
(I have a Gulfstream V too but I save that for extra special excursions.)

Besides, there's the obvious plus of using an ANZ plane is that the tail emblem reminds me which way the plane is meant to go.
