Well.. I just received a very disheartening phone call from my doctor. I went in 2 weeks ago with a bad cough (still hasn't gone away), so they did routine work, and took an X-ray of my chest.

Low and behold, apparently there is a small mass of tissue, roughly half the size of a dime in the middle lobe of my right lung. Instead of sugar coating it like most doctors would, he said it looked like cancer, and will be treated as such. Lame.

WWLAD?

edit: I also have bronchitis. Hah.

Going to a specialist on Wednesday. I think they caught it early enough, *if it is*, to be removed.

Good thing you went to the doctor though, otherwise it could have become alot worse.

I'm no expert, but that's a really young age to catch cancer in the lung, no?

That was my first reaction.

I have never smoked a cigarette, but I do smoke cigars on occasion.

I think the main probable causes would be my grandparents smoking since I was born, and me being at their house every weekend, and my work with Wildland fires. Although that short of an exposure shouldn't do that..

Hopefully it's benign, not malignant. You are very fortunate that it was noticed early. Like others suggested, get another opinion and keep up with the positive outlook.

well it depends on what kind of cancer we're talking about, but if it's a small 'friendly' cancer type it should be removed quickly.

Chemo killed my mom when I was 5. She was doing fine until they called her back for chemo therapy. Good luck man hope it turns out alright for ya.

Not necessarily. It kills cancer cells, along with the cells that are helping your body fight the cancer.
