I use 'zed' for everything apart from when saying the whole alphabet, where I use 'zee' because it rhymes.

Also:

WHAT LETTER IS THIS: W
U x2 or UU
no u
W is pronounced "doubleu" (well near enough, major influence being accent + up bringing)

I'm amazed at some of the replies here. People seem to think that if it really were pronounced as "zed" then we'd have words like "zedbra" and "zedone". Just because we pronounce the letter Q as "kyoo" doesn't mean we go around saying "kyooeen" (queen) or "kyooit" (quit). The letter Z (spelled as just "Z" but pronounced as "Zed") still has the same, soft S sound when you use it in words.

Zed (pronounced /ˈzɛd/) is the name of the last letter of the alphabet Z used by the majority of English-speaking people outside of the United States (where its name is "zee" (/ziː/)). The name "zed" is derived from the Greek letter zeta, which also represents the Z sound
Makes more sense now. Etymology ftw.

double u

UU = W

uu = w

or we could simplify the expression and say that u2 = w

I think it's really strange if someone says "En Zee" when referring to New Zealand shorthand, (NZ.)
It's En Zed.

Not so strange if you consider the populations of English speaking countries. We're by far the loudest and have spread glorious Zee wherever we go.
Fixed.
