I'm so excited! Tomorrow I'm going to be buying the last of my parts for my new rig*, which as people on IRC know, I've been saving up to buy for about 6 months now.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6833124115

That's it. I can not WAIT. I have a few questions though.

1. Will Vista 64 Bit OEM System Builders Edition (Home Premium) run any different than a normal one? Or is it just for one use only?

2. For the RAM, do I put them next to each other, or in alternate slots?

3. If I ever wanna go SLi (which i doubt...too much money), do I just add the card it? What do I have to do to make my OS recognize the second GPU?

If i have any more questions, I'll add them on.

* I'm selling my AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ and 590i mobo for a C2D and 680i.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOEZ! Intel uber price drop on July 22nd... Heres what I would do, buy a cheap Core 2 Duo (E4400) then buy something else in the price drop.

Well, THe OEM version of Vista essentially is the same as teh regular retail version. You just supposed to use it on one pc.  The ram needs to go in the blue slots on the mobo or black (they alternate for dual channel) i have the egva 680i chipset as well just dont remember since ihavnet been in the case since i built it.  When you go SLI u put the two cards in their slots bridge them w/ the sli bridge and when u reboot it recognizes an sli capable system and the Nvidia drivers walk you through enabling sli, its easy. good luck..

You may consider just raiding two sata drives instead of one raptor.  It will be faster and probably cheaper.  I run two 160 gb in raid 0 as my boot drives and its super quick.

Not enough money. I'll just run my OS and Games off of the Raptor, and my music and files off the 250GB.

I can't wait that long. If I keep waiting for price drops, I'll never get the computer.

Wow, I'm about to build a new PC as well and I have the exact same mobo/CPU combo in my Newegg shopping cart ATM.  You'll have to give us an update once it's up and running and tell us how it goes!

Oh I definately will! I'll post some pics/movies here of the boxed stuff, during the building process, afterwards, how it plays games...blah blah blah

Yeah you showed me once it looks sexy tbh! Just a question for you though, if I want to add more 5.25" drives in the front, can I take off the first fan and put some there? Or no?

My dad's ordering my graduation present right now...8800 GTX

And my mom ordered my wireless adapter, monitor, an anti-static wrist band and sound card today too, as i'm paying her back. I'm so pumped!

Very nice rig. Very similar to mine. The nice thing about the mobo is it still gives you room to grow. I started off with an E6400 in it, and have since upgraded to a Core 2 Extreme Quad... Was nice to be able to just swap out the chips, make a change in the BIOS (You have to manually turn on the 3rd and 4th cores) and it was done. I liked having that option, because I hate having to upgrade the entire rig to just swap out one part... lol...

The only thing about your rig that I have to give you a head's up on is your case... I know a lot of people love it, but I have personally known a couple of people who bought it and hated it too. It is almost unheard of to not have a tool less case nowadays... That drove a couple of them nuts. They also complained that it was cramped on the inside compared to their previous cases (which were Thermaltakes, and ridiculously huge)...

So not trying to change your mind here, just wanted to let you know...  Again, it looks like an awesome rig.

It's a little late unfortunately. I looked at the reviews on Newegg and they were good, so I went for it.

I could always put it up on eBay though...

Don't bother...

I don't know what these people were talking about with cramped spaces... Theres plenty of room to work around inside of it..

And the fans are for cooling your hard drives.. They have racks that they sit on.

But you can remove them.

Ah, good. I was getting worried, especially with the GTX.

I'll probably keep them in, I just don't like only having only 3 5.25" externals. Only gives me room for one more optical drive because I have a floppy drive.

The EVGA 680i mobo is great poseidon, like someone above mentioned its pretty future proof for now.  It supports quad core so you can upgrade later, and one think i really love about mine is that the pci express slots run x16 in sli mode instead of dumbed down x8 for sli.  Im telling you though for the same price as one Raptor drive you can raid two sata's and it will be FASTER than one raptor.

Things are looking good on ebay, hopefully I can get a C2D...but isn't the CQD going down to like the same price a C2D is now (like 220) in july?

I'll post some pics later of the stuff i already have.

Your lucky because you dont get screwed over on price like us in the UK. You'll probably find the Quad is around the same price as the C2D but it'll become outdated when the 45nm CPU's come out later in the year.
