In reference to the badges on the right side.

I think its probably a different version of the grapple badge. The symbol looks the same. If you notice, the zip and tactical weaponry badges are not present in this photo. I think vanilla was supposed to have the grapple originally, but I'm not sure.

DICE NY were the developers of the Desert Combat mod for BF1942 and were bought by DICE. When EA took over DICE, they closed the studio.

There's some aspects of the original video that I wish they'd had in the final game, like the designators, the guns flying out of people hands when killed. Moveable barrels and the original Mashtuur map shown there.
I've also noticed in the login video that the guy in the gunners position of the Humvee is still holding is M4.
