The harddisks are a bit slow and the 680i chipset cant clock past 300 FSB with quad core

No Xeon?

lol, joking....

What sort of OS you going to run?

Vista or XP would run fine (obviously) but more the fact of 32 bit vs 64 bit because you have 4GB of RAM.
That 1066Mhz RAM i think is overkill (especially with DDR3 out).... Probably better off with 8GB of something slower if you ask me. I think one you hit about 800Mhz even with a Core 2 Quad Extreme, it's the amount of memory that becomes valuable not how fast it is.

But that's what i say.

Nice rig.

Was this like supposed to be funny? It fails horribly in being so if it was supposed to

two 8800 ultras are 829 each: 1650 (roughly)
a QX6700 is 989... figure 2630 at this point (already past your amount)
2x 2GB set of PC8500 Ram is like 500 bucks.. that puts you at like 3100
1000W PSU is like 380... i'd say you're up to like 3500 at this point
your HDDs are also like 500 in total...that's 4000 bub
Your mobo's about 250 and your case is like 250 as well....you're up to 4500.

You fail.

AMD guys nowadays are as bad as Mac-heads. If AMD has something better by the time I build a new PC, then we'll talk.

I don't know about the 680i chipset. Everytime I look into it, it seems I find more problems people complain about. CPU's fine, if pricey. Storage is a bit low. One Raptor and one 750GB drive would be cool. No reason to SLI 8800 Ultras right now, unless you're driving two huge monitors. Memory's overkill. Too bad it's not 8GB.

Please check all stickies and do a search before starting a new topic.  We have a specific thread in which you can post your system specs and have them rated.  Use it.
