Yeah. I used to have 4 hamsters. Two of them died strange, seemingly painful deaths.

The first one probably died from the cold of winter. Didn't notice it until about a week or two later, when we noticed that the hamsters had a new hamster-skin rug.

The other one died the next winter. All I remember seeing was one (male) hamster chasing another (female) hamster around the cage. The next day, the female hamster was dead.

Hamster rape as a cause of death? Must be a bad way to go.
