After enjoying 3,5 months of my new rig, with a XFX 8800 GTX,  i'm starting to have some artifacts while the card is in 3d mode.
And its only when the game i'm playing is in 1600x1200.
There are like hundreds of red pixels flashing on random locations of the screen,    and can only be seen with a black screen.
So for instance when BF2 loads,  the screen turns black and i see the red dots everywhere,  while playing there not so noticable,  but when your in a tank or apc,  the you see them in the top and bottom of the screen.
I tried everything i could think of,  but its still there.
Only when i set the resolution to 1280x960 or lower  the spots go away.
I never did any overclocking or anything, so maybe some bad luck.
I contacted XFX about it,  but they didn't reply yet.
What do you guys think?

Sounds like it's overheating. Run a temperature log while gaming.

whip the side of your case off and see if it improves

I run a pair of 8800gtx's, i had a few funny graphic things happen to me. It was to do with the way it was set up in the game profile. i fiddled around and changed a few things and all was fine.

Maybe a custom case would help with the heat?

My friend builds machines.. He thought this was a great cooling idea.

It runs fine too...lol
That's what you do when you have too many parts laying around I guess.

Sorry for the slight topic swing but a better case could help you out if it is indeed hot.

THATS why im waiting for ATI and the X2800 series.

Nvidia never seem to get new arcitechture right first time round. The 8900 will be fine

8900 is basically just a factory overclocked 8800 with a better heat sinc and a jacked up price, check for dust etc on the card, my mate had a problem similar which progressed into a huge drop in fps (in a 7950GT), he eventually reformated and went to a previous driver and all was well

The architecture is fine. It nearly doubles the performance of it's nearest competitor (since November). Lemons of course pop up but I think he is getting insufficient cooling. ATI has a long history of running hot as well. My old x1900 xtx ran about 7c higher than my 7950gx2 and it had two cores on separate PCB's.

It could be the card overheating, but what is your monitor? Most don't recommend resolutions that high, so that is a possibility I think...

Um, don't dead pixels turn red?
Maybe when you have it at that resolution, some of the pixels 'die' because they can't handle that resolution.

But that wouldn't expalinw hy they work when the res. is set lower.
Confusing.

Is your monitor a wide screen and can support the resolution. If the problem is with only on 1600x1200 then change it to another setting simple as that.

Hey guys, sorry for the late response.

It cant be a heat isseu,   because when i start te pc up, and the start BF2 right after that,  you can see the red dots.
And it doesn't have anything to do with my monitor,   i'm playing with this rig for 3 months now,  with no problem.
Gonna test my rig with a GTS tommorow, and see what happens.
