    Some people still don't understand why military personnel
    do what they do for a living. This exchange between
    Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum
    is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive
    impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one
    man's explanation of why men and women in the armed
    services do what they do for a living.

    This IS a typical, though sad, example of what
    some who have never served think of the military.

    Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):

    I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions.

I also think you'll find that:

a) There are no nuclear inspectors in Iran;
b) There are no nuclear inspectors in North Korea;
c) The Taliban is alive and well and making a comeback - and Afghanistan is a NATO effort, frankly the amount of troops sent by the US is a joke when you consider what they sent to Iraq;
d) The deaths in Detroit were not 'combat related' - try comparing like with like, i.e. how many unnatural civilian deaths occurred in each city for the 'entire month of January';
e) George W. Bush also passed up the chance to nail Osama in the Tora Bora mountains, mercenaries there were told to 'hold off' - I'm beginning to think the entire US political establishment have a vested interest in keeping him alive....
f) If Iraq and Afghanistan have been 'liberated' (lol) as you put it then frankly I don't want to be free....
