True.
TO date pot hasn't directly killed anyone.

Well, blue cheese is just nasty so you'll probably die from the horrible taste before it clogs your veins. My theory is I'd rather die a bit early and have enjoyed some of the small things in life - artery-clogging red meat and desserts especially.

I think I am going to die at some point in the future.
I know it will happen to me as well as the other guy.
I know I am not prepared to die.

Tobacco may be considered self murder, but so is being willing to live within a smog-infested city.

Bubblegum. I've never smoked, but most people I know who've quit said it helps.

True. Smoking is habitual, mostly because of the repetitive nature. You generally adapt an oral fixation. My friend (someone bluntly) said that he quit by orally pleasing his girlfriend more. Whatever works. Gum, sunflower seeds, anything you can do with your mouth for extended periods of time.

Good luck, buddy. Hate to see you dead.

You have no choice about the smog.

Freewill is what has a person using tobacco. Bad comparison.
But thanks for the tips.

I'll grant I'm not a smoker, but even so I'd suggest not trying cold turkey.  Apart from the fact that all the experts seem to say it's much less likely to work, it can be dangerous.  Keep in mind that you aren't still smoking them because you like them, you're doing it because you're addicted, and suddenly removing the drug from the system can be dangerous.  Use something like nicorette.

One of these (no, it's not a spliff) helped me:

https://images2.clinicaltools.com/images/cmetobacco/nicotine_inhaler.jpg

In the UK you can nicotine inhalation cartridges on prescription for about 10% of the normal price... don't know how it works in America though...

The good bit is you can even use them were you can't smoke.  So I broke the habit of stopping whatever I'm doing for 15 minutes every couple of hours to go out and smoke.... get loads more done....  been a good couple of years since I quit.

Incidentally I have a buddy who gave up on cigarettes by weening himself off using snuff.

That is actually a good idea.

I quit smoking on New Years, and save for a few when I was drunk I have kept it up.  The only time I really want a cig is after a big meal, and every once in a while after a nice spliff.

Every single person I know who has quit has just really wanted to quit......

you can spot those that dont really want to quit a mile off....
- reason given for quiting "someone else said....."  or "my girlfireind thinks I should..."
- delaying the quit..... "Im stoping the end of the month...." or "I cant stop on a weekend"
- those that dont really quit... "its a party...." or "I gona get so drunk in a moment I wont be able to stop myself..."
- abuse of quitting aids.... my boss every time (but the last) had gum, patches, lots of strong coffee and still had the odd failure fag.

If you really want too youll do it (not saying it will be easy for a few months) - all the best with it!

Wish you all the luck there, ATG.  I quit chewing Copenhagan...

12 times.

Finally got off it a year and a half ago...haven't chewed it since.

But now I chew the cheap, generic stuff

It's tough quitting but I found what worked the best and lasted the longest for me was when I went on Zyban (trade name for Welbuterin, sp?).  That route kept me off for over a year.  Then I fell of the damn wagon...again.  Like usmarine, my dentist can't tell I chew, but he knows and gives me an earfull every visit.  Don't get me wrong, I'd like to quit...but yes, I'm a weak bastard.  20+ years is a hard habit to break.

For all those people who think that smoking pot is better than ciga's think again. Pot has about twice as much shit in it than a ciga does plus it fuck s up your reflexes.

Good luck ATG, I realy hope ypu get off them easily.
