you obviously dont do anything relating to construction. Banning Google earth would be a huge pain in the ass.

Before I had to go to the city, wait in line, fill out a bunch of forms and deal with unhappy city workers.
Now, I only deal with them to find out specs on what THEY want and with a minimal of work I can with Google earth prepare any number of documents WITHOUT countless hours spent waiting in line for maps or other crap that you could only get from the city. And the map from the city is tract numbers. Good luck with multiple layers of data that you may need as part of that variance. More time spent. The long and short of it is...Google earth has many uses, all of which you seem to be unacquainted with. Maybe check it out and see what it can do for you.
