This is an open discussion to all that feel like answering seriously.

I recently did a survey of the staff and students at my school. The difference was immense.

Most teachers over 35 said that it was to start a family, get a house, get a secure job, etc.

69% of the 1,000 kids we surveyed said that the American Dream, to them, was to get rich.
of that 69%, 10% said that the Dream was to get the best rims on the market

so whats the American Dream to you?

The original American Dream that you're talking about (probably in American Lit. class?) is based upon money. Wealth was a symbol of status back in the day (and sort of still is) and normally led to all of the family, cars, houses, etc.

If you were rich, you had fulfilled the "dream", although in most cases you ended up in a pool of your own misery and died fairly young.

I'm stating the obvious here but it is going to change over time, like when you're a small child (like 7) if you got a ps2 or something for christmas or birthday you would think you're life is set out! But as you get older, into teenage years, priorities change, girls and grades become a bigger part of your life.
On becoming an adult, everyone is going to be different, different goals you are going to want to reach, different ambitions, so your dream will follow those.

However they are what I would consider the basics, as in: partner, certain amount of money, satisfactory job, children, house. All in different proportions depending on the person.
