Please make sure the install disk is inserted and click "Ok" and restart application.

Is there more than 1 disc for 2142?(haven't bought it yet)

Make sure the play disc is in your main drive.

Do you have the ea link on? I've had some wierd problems with it off sometimes.
And since this is a new computer I doubt the dvd drivers are out of date.

just check that your DVD is clean and no scratches...especially towards the middle...

Do you have more than one drive?

Is the DVD in the drive you installed from?

What Virus checker do you have?

ok...thats strange........ long shot ....do you have DMA turned on for the drive

Via control panel, system, hardware, device manager. Doubleclick on IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, Second Tab. There you'll see what DMA setting Windows XP is using.

i cant seem to find it...

WOULD downloading it from the EA link solve the problem of the program not reading the disk, seeing how it takes out the whole disk process

Have you recently plugged in, or unplugged a USB device that may be detected as a drive? USB Flash Drive, USB MP3 Player, USB 8in1 Memory Card Reader...Etc...

If so, it MAY change your DVD's drive letter assignment. If so, BF2142 will look for itself in lets say D:\ but if a device changed the drive to E:\, BF2142 wont detect that change.

That would solve the problem...but you would have to pay for it again.....

Could you have by any chanced switched  the disc to BF2 maybe? Thats the error message you get when for instance you try to play Bf2 off of disc 2 or 3 and not 1...

If you're running any sort of Virtual CD/DVD program, you will get this error. Shutting down the Virtual CD/DVD program will allow you to play BF2142.

when you launch 2142, does the DVD drive actually spin up (you should be able to hear it) and does the 'read-light' on the drive come on?

Bootcamp?

windows SEES the CD...will start up FROM the CD when you put it in...just bf2142 files won't 'read' from it

Hah, I guess that's what you get for installing BF2142 on a Mac...

If Bootcamp is just a boot selector (i.e. just lets you select which OS to boot into) then it probably isn't that, but I don't know macs, so I'm not 100% sure on that.

Do you have nero or something similar that you could use to check the cd with?
