Crysis E3 Gameplay #1 (6 months ago)

Crysis is set in the year 2019 when a giant asteroid type object hits an island (in Spratly Island chain) in the South China Sea. (Much of the Island in Crysis is however modeled of the islands of Hawaii).

North Korea, who have become quite a force in the world arrive first onto the island after being informed of an unidentified flying object. After blockading the island they soon discover a large mysterious asteroid. Shortly after, the US also sends in a Delta Force squad to investigate. (You play as Jake Dunn, who is a member of this squad).

Things turn bad quickly though, as there is still intense rivalry between the two nations. While tempers flare and fighting occurs between the North Koreans and Americans, the asteroid opens up revealing a large alien ship. The ship encloses itself inside a large sphere causing a large part of the island to become frozen (including anyone who was unlucky enough to get caught in it's reach) and also causes variances in the weather.

The Alien enemy brings with it some extremely high tech and dangerous weapons - to such an extent that the North Koreans and Americans join forces. At this point, the player must fight their way through a raft of different environments and enemies to save the world.

This will probably be the game that replaces BF2 for me and will also force me to replace my outdated comp.

I can play it on high and you can't.

On the contrary.

*clears throat*

Crysis uses the Cryengine 2 (cryengine was for Far Cry)

This engine allows for the most player-oriented freedom of most FPS shooters today. It doesnt use skyboxes or textured backgrounds. In theory, you can walk anywhere on the island, whichever way you want, whenever you want to.

And you dont have freedom in BF2. The boundaries are pitiful for controlling where you want to go. There are also impassible roadblocks and such.

What is the multiplayer supposed to be like? Is it just a deathmatch, albeit a very good looking one?

There is speculation amongst the community.

It will most likely be a conquest/deathmatch mix.

Thing about that, though, is the size. Projected multiplayer maps are go-anywhere able. So you can walk around the map for an hour to find that perfect sniper spot.

I played FarCry and I loved it! I don't doubt at all that this game won't be better.

The mobility around the map is perfect when I played FarCry. I really wasn't into the alien stuff, but the physics of the game was just amazing. I moved onto BF2 after beating the game(sure was hard at the end).

I'll probably need a new gfx card to play this game.

lolololol

Time to start saving, though I think all I'll need is a new video card (8800 ftw) and a nice processor (AMD ftw). Might go AM2 for a motherboard.

Neg, go Core 2. E6400 is within 10% of FX-62 benchmarks on almost everything, and is almost identical on games. However, it is ~$200 while the FX-62 is ~$600.

I wonder what system they used to play it then. Thought the only Dx10 card was that 8800 or w/e and that just came out like a couple of weeks ago. Then you have the whole Dx10/Vista isn't even released yet
