Lag with Skype

Hi, Just enrolled today here at the site4. Uses it everyday for all sort of tips & tricks.
So now I hope that someone may help me with this problem:

My friends and I have used TeamSpeak2 RC2 a few times, but feel it's ackward and the sound quality is really bad. Delays, echo, etc.
So we tried to use Skype today.
Sound is now great (actually perfect), but...
Both our games lag now. And it's really annoying.
We both have pretty good ADSL connections (2 mBit down and 512 kBit up)

Anyone know what may cause the problem or have a recommendation for perhaps another Voip application we can use? As long as it's simple and good sound (no delay as teamspeak 2 RC2 had).

yeah I would also suggest ventrilo, it requires less than skype. Else maybe even googletalk?

simple, another program running with a system hog such as battlefield equals slowed down performence.

Might sound crazy but even msn messenger is better and has absolutely perfect sound, my friend DonFck can listen to what´s on my TV in the background even if it is on low volume...
Our clan tried to use skype once in a battle, and someones voice was all the time left outside...

It sucked Klingon cock!!!!

skype really makes you lag. i nowadays just use my mobile to call whoever i play with. uses no system resources, but probably thats too expensive for you. i would also try ventrillo, or use the ingame voip. also just using xfire chat is often enough

I use skype for my business, but according to this Its offical, Skype lowers your Game's Framerate, its true.

I don't find any problem with Teamspeak RC2. We use our own server, but some of them race or play Call Of Duty POO, so those of us that play Battlefield 2 create our own channel. Make sure you adjust the codec to speex 25.9 Kbit and then check the microphone settings in the options. why you might get interferance could be caused by your speakers. I myself and some friends had a similar problem. A few tweaks here and there in the options and now it works fine. Don't get any lag in games, no more echos, which i liked very much.

RC2 is great ... can't see what the problem is. Sound quality is perfect if people have good mics etc. and it doesn't lag out games at all plus runs in the background quite nicely ... :S
