Anyone know what this 512MB+256MB and 256-bit+128-bit is about?

They just stick 2 cards together?

It's dual-core, each core has it's own memory bank. It's basically two cards on one PCB board.

My god that thing is LONG! You're gonna need like a full-tower ATX just to use it. I know that would definately hit the HDD's in my case.

Would the second CPU be the physics CPU?  Its just weird to have missed matched CPUs like that.

No..

It's like having SLI, but in one slot. Honestly, I don't know why there is different sized memory banks...that doesn't really make sense, but it doesn't matter to me - the R600 will pwn all.

Your right too. Plus less heat because ATI went with less pipes and went with the Shader Archeture  and Pixel processes back with the X1xxx cards with the 1950 you have 16 pipes(48 pixel shader processors ) and thats the biggest benefit with DX10. Plus theres going to be much less heat with less pipes and better Pixel Processing  performance.

Only time will tell, Its a waiting game till then. Going to be a very interesting 2007 for sure.

ATI is screwed... Since they were taken over by AMD, R600 is their last true go at the high-end market. Amd stated a long while ago that they were going to step out of the high-end business and go more towards workstations (integrated graphics solutions).

Also G80 has such time to reign as the only DX10 card that by the time R600 is released Nvidia's G80 refresh card will be out.

Time table is like this:
G80 - Mid november
R600/G80 refresh - March
G81 - June

So that gives R600 4 months tops as crown performer until it is demolished by G81.

ATI is practically done in the high-end market....

This and the 8800GTS are the only ones being released in November.

There will be "low" and "midrange" cards released at later dates. Probably Q1 of next year I would expect a 8600GTX/GTS or something like it.

Exactly, those pipes will require it.

AMD is Putting alot into ATI, Plus the fact ATI itself isnt out of the picture. Its like a silent partner type deal. so dont count them out. they didnt go the opposite direction for nothing with there architecture for nothing. Watch and see. Nvidia will have the prescott syndrome and ATI will come out swinging. Me personally im running both, like both always did, Im sitting back and waiting to see whats best for MY money. But it sure isnt going to be a card thats going to eat up 135 watts or more. That could heat my basement.

Wow. The lights will dim in the house, you'll get chemotherapy, and you power company will send you a gift basket if you SLI that.  Look into a small fission reactor for a power supply.

Im just ready to see the mobos change. with two of those SLI, its hard to find a board with any open PCI slots after those bad boys. ATX2? is this happening yet?

HOLY HELL

How many power connecters does one card need.
