What do you imagine will change about youtube? Are there going to be forced ads before each video you watch? Are there going to be ad banners underlining each link to youtube videos we place on this forum?
ie how does google plan to make money from youtube? Or are they purchasing it just to reduce competition with googlevideo, gaining a monopoly with which they'll do something anti-competitive?
I'd been wondering why the google vid section started looking alot like youtube a couple of weeks ago

What I'm trying to say is, if the content owners are smart, they're thinking of ways to turn youtube into a revenue generator rather than dismissing it as a pirate broadcaster that should be crushed using tens of millions of dollars in legal fees.
One of the reasons YouTube hasn’t been sued for copyrighted material is that they have no money to speak of. Google, with their deep pockets, would no doubt attract lawsuits from every direction once they bought it. I just don’t see Google spending $1.6 billion on a lawsuit magnet.

it would be sheer idiocy for anyone to sue, even if it is a full episode of their show or something, the quality is nowhere near as good as rented/storebought, and it's all basically just free advertising
