I belive its an evil cult which only exists to make money, and will do so even if it means impeding on other people's rights.

Define "CULT" in real words. Then explain if scientology falls under those definitions. Take note, it does not.
If it IS a cult, is that bad? Is there not good and bad cults? What makes it good or bad, your opinion? My opinion?
Well, if people find the progress to be meaningful, then it shouldn't matter if it costs money. Requiring money (10%) has long been a religious principle in judeo-christian theology, so that means this religion is not unorthodox, and therefore doesn't qualify as a cult really. I don't want to become a member or anything, but it's adherents don't have to do give anything if they don't want to, so it's hardly exploitation.Bertster7 wrote:

1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology. a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
7. the members of such a religion or sect.
8. any system for treating human sickness that originated by a person usually claiming to have sole insight into the nature of disease, and that employs methods regarded as unorthodox or unscientific.
It is bad. It exploits its members and requires you to pay to progress within the organisation, which they claim will make you more happy. Exploiting peoples beliefs for profit is evil and they should all be beaten to death with their E-Meters.
It was a pretty shitty movie.Paco_the_Insane wrote:
L Ron Hubbard was pretty cool though, have you ever read Battlefield Earth? It was a pretty good book.
They entice people in with free 'personality and stress tests', after which they tell you that you are unhappy and need to become a scientologist to be happy. I and several of my friends have taken these tests and all of us were told pretty much the same thing, apart from one guy I know who was told he was evil (he's gay and they don't like that). I found the whole process quite amusing, I was keen to get a stress test after seeing the Southpark episode on Scientology.IRONCHEF wrote:

Look, I want Katie Holmes back in the normal fold too, but this religion is hardly a threat to anyone. It's them jesus camp bastards that are a danger to this country and the world. I'd gladly take scientology leaders over extremist christians.
