If he hasn't seen me, draw either my pistol or knife.
If he has seen me, prone and give him a few well placed shots.

As someone who has played 450 hours you should know that depends entirely on what weapon you're using, and what situation you're in.
With most weapons though, prone ASAP. The guns in this game are just too inaccurate in other positions.

Crouch and aim. Close up I just shoot, medium-far I zoom first.
Jump, prone, headshot with AK
or if your trying to get explosives badge when the guys hasnt seen you go right behind him drop c4 stand back a bit so you dont kill yourself and blow him sky high.
jump, zoom, prone, shoot, crouch, prone, shoot

Amen to that !!!!!!vanmani wrote:

Personally, I rarely find myself with a sniper rifle in my hands, so usually I try to follow this train of thought (details may vary depending on many factors). Depending on the situation, I may find myself jumping into the middle of this list at any given time:
1) Determine if he has seen me, or soon will. If he has hasn't/wont, and I have the option to do so, I knife him
2) If he has seen me, what weapon do I have in my hands ? If I can use what I have, I will (including shock paddles !)
3) If the weapon in my hands is not sufficient, I try to either be a moving target, or avoid attention while I change weapon
4) I then utilize the weapon I canged to as best possible. Each weapon has different charateristcs, so the actual use may vary, sometimes I shoot standing, sometimes running, sometimes prone, sometimes zoomed etc. etc.
5) If I run out of ammo for the weapon I'm holding, I move back to item 3.
6) If I need to reload ALL of my weapons (pistol, primary, eryx/C4/claymore whatever), I try to use a nade if the distance will allow it.
7) If I'm down to knife/paddles and needing to realod BOTH my primary, my pistol and have no equipment or nades left, and the distance to target is more than I can safely print in the time it takes to reload a weapon, I will attempt to disengage... If not, I will go for a knifefight.
So I guess the first thing I do, is try to determine if I have the advantage of stealth/surprise. For this reason I always look up once in a while to see if the enemy UAV is near me. Surprising someone can be a bitch if they see you on their minimap !
I jump up to the left then lay down to the right and zoom then fire.
if his near to medium distance ill crouch... if they are far or more than three ill throw a nade and run for a better position... if i run up on a support player or sniper close range i'll strafe to one side and jump over them.. funny watching a prone support guy try and spin around to get you lol
analyze the situation and figure if i can win a brutish shootout...
if i can = commence barbaric bullet spraying!
if i can't = run around the corner and figure something out.

Stop, then Hammer time.
First thing I do? Pull the trigger.
I'm usually engineer or sniper, so when I'm engaging, I'm either already prone and some distance away with a sniper rifle, in which case I shoot and try for a headshot, or I've got an engineer weapon in my hands, in which case going prone is a waste of time and effort.

Run away, screaming like a girl!
Then prone, zoom, shoot for upper torso

i throw a medic bag instead of grenade cuz i get nervous if i'm gonna kill him or not
i spot, then skin up. then, when my pc has stopped chugging i get confused and forget what i was doing. then i die. sometimes if im lucky i dont t'k someone by mistake in the interval
Shoot first, ask questions later.
Prone, shoot.
