I've always wondered this. Probably over 70% of BF2 players have excellent computers, but the other 30% have slow, laggy, and terrible computers (like me).

So, do people with high end computers, the ones with no lag, and high settings play better and get better stats than people with slower computers?

Think about it.

Benefits of High-End Computer:
Far viewing distance
Good Graphics
No Lag

And what do lower-end computers get?
Low viewing distance
Poor graphics (everything looks like paper and boxes, distant objects look like nothing)
Extreme lag (sometimes)

So? Do gamers with good computers play better than gamers with bad ones?

EDIT: Also, the poor graphics is horrible for the scope on the F2000. The crosshair looks like crap, I can't even aim accurately with it.

Its a hard Question, i think it all comes down to the skill of the player as they learn to adapt tot he system.

My SPM jumped a few notches when I got my new Video Card. That says it all for me.

I believe they do. In my personal experience, I always play better on a game after I've made an upgrade to the computer.

the computer makes a big difference, but a good player can overcome the limitations of there system with teamwork.

Not to mention a bigger better system gets you more friends and invited to exclusive events. A higher end systems also give you the perk of discounts where you normally shop. Not to mention you will feel better and look great!

Good hardware never hurts, but I play on a mediocre machine.  I dont have the money to go and drop $2000 on a computer specifically made for BF2 and higher end games....thats retarded, I have bills to pay.  But, none the less, it all depends on the gamer.  As DSRTurtle said, a good player can overcome the set backs on their machine, making them just as good, if not better than someone with a rediculous rig.  Those types of gamers are the ones to fear, because if they ever do upgrade to a better machine, it will only make their skill twice what it was.

I feel better after I go to the gym, not after I spend all my savings on a new pc.  But thats just me....different priorities and preferences I guess.

exactly.  if there were some way that you could play against yourself on two different systems, you'd win on the better system.  i think the player's ability is more important, but all other things being equal, a good system will give you an edge

some things, like picking people off of the deck of the iron gator from the shore, are things you just can't do with a slow computer.

i'd say only to a certain extent.  They only thing that would really affect game play graphics wise, would be how smoothly it runs.  As long as the computer runs smoothly and isn't lagging and stuttering everywhere I dont think it would really make a difference whether you're running on high, med, or low settings.  That stuff is just eye candy.

I think it helps to have better hardware. But I use a older Dell and I feel that I do just fine overall. But it is nice to play on a system with the lastest vid cards and alot of ram.

YES YES YES... I Have a new cpu... 'emachine'... have to put everything on low.. but i still play with no lag.. my connection is good = no lag..  my good friend however has a high end cpu.. liquid cooled.. crazy.. plays everything on high.. and has the same connection.. I admit that he cpu is much smoother and looks great.. but im a better gamer.... he actually stopped playing due to the cheaters.. and now plays (i think) far cry.. which i hear is just as good if not better.. anyhow if you have i high end cpu you certainly have the advantage. next tax season.. its either a kx250.... or a high end cpu.. im torn between the 2..

This is how I think about.  A crap player with the best computer is still a crap player.  While a player with skill, and a crap machine, is still a skilled player, with some limitations.  The later will always win, but may not play his A game.

I actually played a lot of counter strike online on 56k and dominated. Everybody kept saying I hacked but it's mainly because I got used to playing with lag. The only real upside is the viewing distance.

well it just means at crucial points the high end PC wont have much video lag(better fps then lower end PC's)

Yes it helps, especially with vehicles(choppers and planes especially).  My bro has a tits computer with high end everything, and its so easy to spot stuff when we are flying together.  Now that he left for college again I'm stuck with my pos HP basic desktop(lol) and its so hard to adjust to after playing on my brothers computer for so long.  But like everyone else said, good players can play on crap computers, its just a perk to have a computer where everything runs smooth and the graphics/view dis is the highest.

Hardware doesn't have anything fundamentally to do with playing ability (reflexes, strategy, etc.), but if you're playing a slideshow you will get bested by someone with better equipment.

Yeah, my reflexes suck. I can't shoot anything when a guy suddenly pops up. I end up shooting the roof or the wall, and then I die.

i have
p4 2.4ghz
512 ram (2700 i think)
9800pro

how do you think i play? i play on all low with 100% view on 1024x768
it usually takes 6~10 min to load up a game, and after game loads up, it takes another 3~4 minutes for lag to settle down

OF COURSE THE COMP MAKES HUGE DIFFERENCE!
like if i had a leet comp that would never lag, my scores would be better and i'd have like at least 15:1 k:d ratio in my jet by now... i mostly die because of lag.. like i'd be flying straight, and game would freeze for 3 ~ 5 seconds and by the time the lag stops, i'm either dead already or heading straight down to water

but it's not like having a good comp will make you a good player.. my friend can run bf2 on all high with VERY LITTLE lag and i'm still better then him lol
