It was controversial at the time and the British regretted it pretty well immediately, not that any externally decided plan would have ever satisfied the Zionist crazies with their loony agenda, or obviously the Palestinians and their neighbours who had zero say in any of it.
Even now the Israelis don't even bother to pay lip service to the UN resolution which established Israel in Palestine.
