Been playing Engineer lately and I noticed that there is an imbalance compared to Medic/Support when it comes to scoring points. Nothing new, so what?

What if the Engineer had a toolbox he could leave behind (like Medic/Support can)?

You select your wrench and simply holding it will function as repair (next to assets and/or vehicles), clicking your mouse will drop it.

Vehicles can drive over the toolbox and repair:

armor: 1 toolbox = 50%
apc: 1 toolbox = 75%
all other vehicles: 1 toolbox = 100%

No need to change the criteria for a 'repair-point' this way.

Also, you can only leave x-many toolboxes behind before the first disappears again.

Being able to instantly repair would make armour insanely powerful. A tank with an engineer following it would be invincible.

armour will never be destroyed, just get engineers to throw wrenches all around a tank and it can just camp there and get repaired instantly everytime it took a hit.

thats why it's only a 50% repair per bag (and that percentage could be altered for balance-purposes)

I think it's a very good idea, and would be just as powerful as an armor convoy, it would just help engies on the ground trying to repair their armor.

Interesting idea, you could drop the boxes in a line and lead the enemy tanks to a freshly placed mine.... follow the path my pretty tank.... follow....

Why bother letting armour take damage at all then?  In fact, let's just make it so everyone spawns in an invincible APC they can't leave.  It could be called Battlefield 2: No Kills, No Death, Total Fun for the Whole Family

I play lots of engineer, so I'd like to see this.  Of course, what I'd mostly do is put my 'toolbox' down on top of a landmine, and wait for the kill

Same principle as putting a claymore on top of a medic bag, but if it's all coming from one guy, it's much easier to pull off.

Agreed, this is a bad idea, armor is already a pain when 2 or more engineers get together in vehicles and park next to each other.  This would make it impossible.  Tho, i do agree that Engy needs to have something improve its point structure, this is not the way.
