Anyone noticed, that when you place an AT mine behind an enemy tank, or you place a claymore behind a corner because theres an enemy coming, that the MINES DONT WORK UNTILL AT LEAST 5 SECONDS AFTER YOU ARM THEM!

Just wanted to point that out, because i frequently kill myself while going back to the tank to check out why it isnt exploding.. (at that point the mine gets excited to see its creator again and tries to impress me with fireworks.)

Yes, it sucks, in BF42 it was 0 seconds.

if they armed instantly, people would run around throwing claymores in gun fights, then running  (they already do this enough ><)

I thought it had more to do with the vicinity in which you placed them as in like they won't blow you up too so you gots to git away from them before they will go off.

mines are a strategic asset. deploy them with strategy, so you can be 1/2 a map away and still kill someone

I despise claymores, and I despise myself when I use them. One of my favorite strategies is to pick up the kit of snipers I've killed and chuck their claymores around before getting my own kit and moving on. There are times when I'll have 6-8 claymores spread around a base, and a little more of my soul withers and dies when someone walks into one.

They are quite effective though.

2 seconds is stilll quite fast... claymores are supposed to be a defensive tool, and i think the time could be increased... expecially  since they are indestructable.

I'm sure you'll figure it out, I left you two clues in the screenshot. Anyway, I think claymores would be much more balanced if there was a setup time associated with throwing one, say, 2 or 3 seconds. It would put a stop to all the yahoos running around chucking claymores in firefights.

or if they had tripwires that you had to setup, or perhaps a radio detenator

I did that about 10 minutes ago. Cmon man THINK! There is a discarded sniper kit laying in the foreground... I suicided 5 times very recently. How do you think I planted more than 2?

my point was you cant plant more than 2 WITH THE SAME KIT

That last post was directed more at slicknic, and anyway my point was that I pick up the kits of multiple snipers and use their claymores against them, thus defeating the 2 mine limit.

î know that in real time a mine takes about 10 seconds to arm and a claymore something like 15 and it is to not blow your self up,so at bf2 it takes less and running from someone and dropping a claymore is gay anyway

Actually, I think the time to "arm" an AT mine IRL is a lot higher than that... OK, I know technology has progressed the last couple of years... But when I was young (*sigh*... Sounding like the old fart that I am), you actually had to DIG A HOLE to put the mine in, then arm it and bury it again (to avoid the mine being seen). On average, it'd be rare to be able to lay out more than a couple of mines in an HOUR (they're also damned heavy, so just moving them from the box to where you want to bury them is a task in it self). And on the downside, the enemy will just roll in a mine sweeper, or fore one of those new smart missles that blows up all mines in a 25 meter corridor, making all your hard work go to waste....

As for a claymore. The actual claymore is easy, just plant it in the gound/tree/sand/whereever and pull the safety. However, the trigger is tripwire, so THAT takes some time to do, as you have to tie up the wire end somewhere, pull it tight, then connect it to the trigger, making ABSOLUTELY sure that you didn't connect the wire to something that will move in a light breeze... All labours of love, ofcourse (!)
