IMO this is either a viral marketing campaign for some game/product or an odd project done by someone to show how information spreads on the internet. The whole mysterious aspect of it seems to me to be a way of adding intrigue/interest in an effort to gain more attention. Attention is the last thing some terrorist group would want as they would prefer to seek attention after the fact. As for speculations that this is some group releasing a virus etc., why would they place a counter of 80 days instead of just releasing it. Seems to "out there" for me.
