I was thinking about getting a new system.  Mine is almost six years old now.  Do you use your X52 for ground combat as well?  I use the pro throttle and mouse for ground combat but for jets i use the full system.   Was wanting to get a new Chproducts system but they cost too freakin much.

Erm, just LOOK at the picture. LOOK at it. Please. Still think it says 23 for each option?
23+23 =56?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

On topic: Just Keyboard. Good old two handed keyboarding.
A joystick would prolly be better but I'm just too lazy/cheap to get one.

I have over 130 hours flying and have always used my trusty mouse and keyboard. Not sure if I could adjust to a joystick now and with my aviator K/D ratio constantly climbing I am very happy with the mouse and keyboard combo.

Saying that, I'd love some really kick-ass expensive joystick - maybe I'd love it

I put the joystick, throttle and mouse all side by side on a 1/2"x6" board that I lay across the arms of a chair that I sit in.  Tapped the controllers and mouse pad down to the board.  The hard part is finding the right chair to make it all work.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

Never could get used to flying a jet with a mouse/keyboard. I do better with the mouse in a heli though.

That's great.    I use a joystick.  Screenshot was from MoonGamers Mostly Oman - no uncappable spawn raping allowed.

I used to use m/keyboard for my first 1000 kills or so. I dont care what anyone says but if you dont mind scrolling the f*ck out of your mouse then go ahead, but as for me i retired the mouse after my first 1000 kills. I now use Keyboard to excellerate/decellerate/pivot/afterburners/view/eject and Joystick to sharp angle turns/mgun/bomb/mouse look. Everyone has there own setup and opinions on this manner but i dont see how you can use mouse to dogfight experienced pilots, like i said i tried it in the beginning but found myself gettin slapped out of the skys like a newb. Now that the new patch is out it would be almost impossible to shake an enemy jet pilot off your tail with a mouse expescially if he has a j10. Using joystick for the first time was hard but thats why theres unranked servers .

I tried the whole kb mouse thing with the demo... wasnt happening.

I did the whole keyboard and keyboard thing... and that got old but it was very effective. Hence why my jet kd ratio blows so much ass.

Finally got a joystick, nice and cheap saitek st90 14 bucks, no twist action, still using wasd for throttle and rudder. Got sick of having a sore left hand and decided to step my game up.

This joystick has a lot of bugs but once you iron them out pretty much its butter I can perform almost 60 functions at the tip of my hands using the joystick.

chat, eject, parachute, hat view, map resize, map window, talk to the commander, open up the main radio window and spot an enemy while im flying. There is just a lot you can do With this joystick its amazing, and the trottle helps you hover cap flags in a helicopter or pull off some crazy ass stunts that you cannot pull off with a mouse. Its just not accurate enough.

The only benefiit a mouse will give you over a joystick is that you can fire rockets in a helicopter more in a more stable focused pattern.

But 100 dollars is quite excessive.
lol, same joystick and keyboard as me

just bought a joystick few days ago and for the moment im a lot less accurate than with a mouse. the biggest advantages I found for the moment are : 1. you can make sharp turns and its easier to avoid aa's 2. dont have to keep pressing the W button during the whole game, the throttle thing do it for you and lots of buttons on the top of the joystick so its easy to swith camera

but for example while machinegunning moving choppers im a lot less accurate then with my mouse... And Im thinking to get a refund on my joystick not because it sucks, it works well but I think ill never get used with it although Ive only used it for a few hours... I dont know if I can judge yet, but i think ill be more confortable with a mouse forever. anyway ill see

edit : and btw ive got a Saitek Cyborg Evo

Keyboard/Mouse

It takes care of all my needs, and I just don't want to go out and buy a joystick. The only problems I have are smooth, continuous movements. I'm starting to change to keyboard/keyboard whenever I want to barrel roll or loop, but often the mouse works just fine for this. I'm thinking of upping the sensitivity just a tad tho. It also makes for precise gunning, I find. Killing people just by their tracers and muzzle flash is sweet.

Its all about personal preference. I know alot of people that fly heli's and planes etc with the keyboard, and there awsome with it.

Now me, im a joystick guy...i enjoy the realisim (at least try anyway) with a joystick and manuvering with it then a key board.

I use a joystick for flying airplanes because it allows for tighter control. It's essential (well, almost) for dogfighting. When I fly helis, which isn't that often, I use my mouse and keyboard. Not quite sure why, but I find it easier.

I had the same thing happen. Don't give up man. It took me awhile to get used to a joystick but I'm super glad I did.

I completely agree with Ajax. Your aim probably will be affected at first, but once you get used to the joystick and how it feels, you'll definitely start to excell. Try to experiment with the joystick and see what the limits of each jet are. It really helps to know the plane you're flying.

Keyboard & Mouse, i would use a joystick but i dont want to spend a whole lot on a joy stick especially if it isnt compatible with BF2.  I think that a joystick would help out a lot for dogfighting and i think it would allow better control which in-turn improves my stats, but again its hard to find an inexpensive and good joystick isnt it?
