Movement is too slow, weapons too accurate, and you die too easily for 1v1 to be fun for BF3. Things turn into camping matches where people take pot shots at another.

Now compare that to one of the games I suggested Unreal.

Absolutely nothing. A FPS is best suited for teams of at least 3 or 4 (which might be a fun idea as well).
For 1v1 you can best use an RTS, problem is, were not all experienced RTS players and i thought this was supposed to be a very open tournament. The learning curve is simply to high on those games.

Honestly, if you want to host a tournament on BF2s, let people make teams of 4 and pick a FPS like BF2 (or 3...), CoD1 (or 4...) or TF2.

1v1's in a FPS are just not entertaining or a real display of skill
