.38 Special is about the largest cartridge the average person would want to shoot in a compact revolver.

Gun ownership isn't the problem. Idiots owning guns is.

1. Most states do not require registration.
2. Concealed carry is legal in 49 states, with three not requiring a permit.
3. Their summary of the Castle Law is very simplistic, and a bit flawed. In states with Castle Laws, if someone forcibly breaks into your house, you are allowed to assume they pose a threat to you, and use any level of force to stop them.
4. GSWs are NOT the #1 killer of young men. Look at WISQARS data.
5. Suicide statistics fall victim to the correlation does not equal causation error.
6. Flamethrowers are not defined as firearms in federal law. Miniguns, besides being ridiculously expensive, are NFA Title 2 firearms, which are highly restricted.
7. The armed civilian being more likely to be shot statistic, was likely drawn from the study in Philadelphia that had a LOT of errors in methodology...i.e. people shot were much more likely to be carrying than people who were not shot while sleeping at home...
8. The more likely to be killed with your own gun claim comes from the Kellerman study, which was also seriously flawed.
Overall, this is a poster made by someone using claims lifted out of a variety of sources, not all of which are sound, to make people believe that American gun laws are helping contribute to death and violence. It is heavily biased, and not all the claims are factually correct.

why are they bitching about florida's stand your ground law? i probably wouldn't kill a man stealing my TV but hey if you don't wanna get shot you probably shouldn't go into the burglary business.
why would we be scared of them? i'm a pretty average euro and i shoot around 10 different licensed firearms a yearJay wrote:

Whatever, the point is every different country in Europe has a different stance on firearms, so you can't group all "ignorant euros" in together as some kind of firearm hating bunch.Kampframmer wrote:

So I can list out random "facts" too... But at least I can throw some citations around with them...
According to this, we should outlaw Cars, Alcohol, and Black Men in the United States. Let me know how making those suggestions work out for you.

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
How far are you willing to extend that reasoning? Should weapons-grade plutonium be uncontrolled and free to purchase by anyone? Should Anthrax spores? What about plastic explosives? Regulation is a consequence of measuring benefits against risk. There's nothing special in that regard about firearms regulation. You may feel that gun ownership is more beneficial than other people do, or you may have less regard for the risk, but you're making that determination using precisely the method that you're berating other people for using. Arguing extremes is dense and a waste of everyone's time.HITNRUNXX wrote:
