I don't even see why this is an argument. It's implemented in types of games developed for it and ignored everywhere else. Crouch and prone have more of an excuse to be in a game than 100% headshot kill rate.
Only recent first-person game I can think of without crouch is Minecraft.

What's the point of having headshots give more points or a special icon if it takes just as many shots as anything else? There should be some kind of award or achievement for doing one-shot-kills to the head.

No, because in the current state that modern FPS games are, the only time people gets headshots is when they hold down fire and spray at people across the map.

If you want realism, go play a realistic game. Stop trying to make the popular games realistic, because nobody likes that, hence why realistic games aren't popular.

Missing the point, shifty. For arcade mode, headshots by nature should do more damage, but only result in insta-kill under special circumstances (sniper rifle or other heavy caliber weapon).

Games and game modes already geared towards realism reduce the damage you can take before dying significantly. Give CoD4 hardcore a shot. A headshot with just about anything is good enough, but you'll be aiming for the body more often (like you should). If you don't find that fun, you'll probably change your mind about this.

Having a way to one shot kill the enemy without a sniper rifle. How about if it's an AIMED shot (looking through iron sights) to get a hit kill headshot with any assault rifle and LMG but not with SMGs, except maybe the AK74U. It would be cool to have that little bonus and get a challenge, achievement, or some other reward for it.

AK74u in CoD4

800 RPM
40 damage close range (3 bullets = kill on any 1.0 modifier, 2 bullets = kill on 1.4 (head))

so if you sneak up behind 3 people, it'll take you just over 0.25 of a second from pressing the fire button to killing the first person. The average human reaction rate is 0.3 seconds. So you've killed one before the other guys even realise there's a dot on the radar. They've then got to think "oh shit, that dot on the radar means there's an enemy behind me" then they've got to move their mouse, allow for lag time for that action to get to the server, relay back, display on their screen that you're standing in front of them, then they have to pull the trigger on you. You have an immense advantage in this situation, and basically, if you can't kill 3 people you've snuck up on without one hit headshots (which would probably be slower than spraying all three of them down), then I don't know what to say. You're bad, probably.

reminds me when my airsoft club was at a convention trying to advertise the club, we had our gears and AEGs on the table and this group of cod players approached us and started calling the AKs Galils, the M24 L96, my P226 an ASP and the best of all.....asked us if we have the motion sensors from mw2.
