penalty kicks are a stupid way to decide футбол games. should just go to golden goal after two et periods.

Combined with an obvious dose of lack of knowledge of the subject...m3thod wrote:

It then becomes dead ball free kicks from that distance.nukchebi0 wrote:
oh so it makes the teams really risk averse? that's a shame. penalties are a shit way to decide the game. maybe move penalties back to the edge of the 18 so its a bit more about skill?

dont need a wall to be classed as a free kick. from that distance it will be nigh impossible to score all except the dead ball specialists.nukchebi0 wrote:
don't worry, i've watched enough футбол to know that 1-0 is a great lead. they certainly showboat a lot for simply celebrating their team's lead.
i know penalties arent entirely luck, its just that in a penalty shootout one goal can make the difference, and that can be as simple as someone slipping or the goalies foot catching the ball or something.
and yes, i'm aware penalties aren't simple and that keepers prepare, but despite this most are scored. the striker clearly has a massive systemic advantage.
also, that wouldn't a be a free kick because there is no wall.

Yeah a dead ball one-on-one from that distance massively favours the goalkeeper.m3thod wrote:

there also should be enough team members on either side comfortable with striking/attacking capabilities to take a penalty, whether they have the bottle or maybe even energy to take one is another story.
Yeah I hate that when players celebrate winning a penalty, love it when they subsequently miss it.m3thod wrote:
when i was a wee lad in the 80's i remember the south Americans inh mexico 86 celebrating they had won a penalty NOT scoring one, winning one.
even then as a kid remember thinking wtf are these people on. also i was pissed as no cartoons were playing cos of the footy.
