Looks like we will have a full December sale leading up to the holiday sales... I'm thinking of buying Pokernight at the Inventory now that it's only 60%, but I don't think I will tbh...

---

I'd better post these just in case there are any "hat collectors" on BF2s..

Last hat has not been revealed...

Are you seriously complaining about games being put on sale?

wtf

EDIT: Though they should rename that last TF2 hat from "Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect" to "Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Ridicule"

what i object to is that millions of people are going to buy some stupid game for the simple attempt at getting one of the 10 objectives and waste their money.

you'll notice that you have one day to complete said objective.

and that future objectives are hidden.

egro if you knew what objectives you needed and already had those games you wouldnt buy any other game to get one of the objectives.

and the % chance you will win is miniscule. steam are treating the public like cash cows.

All retailers have their own incentives schemes to get you to buy things.

It doesn't make them evil or cash cows.

Anyway I had 3/4 objectives completed automatically so that's cool.

Yeah, I mean, Noone is forcing you to buy, and unless you want that UBER L33T tf2 hat there is nothing that requires you to buy anything you don't want anyway... Just look at it as a nice way to get a daily sale...

I don't get it.

I mean yeah, it's a very obvious ploy to push people towards buying the games that are on sale, but so what. Everyone is entered for today's draw of 20 games automatically due to the avatar thing anyway.

I don't see why people would get "HURR DURR CASH COWING" mad over this... There are plenty of free-to-enter competitions going on all over the web all the time, and I don't see people whining about them beeing discussed with HURR DURR comments

Oh and another thing, you can enter any of the prize draws without buying any of the games, including the grand prize draw.

Alternate Entry: To manually enter the Sweepstakes, each eligible entrant must print his or her name, address, city, state, country, postal code, email address, Steam account name, and telephone number, as well as the name of the Treasure Hunt objective that the entry is for, on a self-addressed 4x6 note card and mail the completed form to: Valve Corporation, P.O. Box 1688, Bellevue, WA 98009-1688.
To be eligible for the Grand Prize Drawing, an alternative entrant must have entered at least 10 Treasure Hunt objective drawings and then provide an additional alternative entry for the Grand Prize Drawing, postmarked December 20, 2010.

It's because Steam knows people are dumb enough to buy every game they put up, just to get a $400 hat, and they are taking advantage of it.

Anyway, Chime is worth it's weight for a measly $1. No fucking way I would shell out for RUSE unless I intended on playing it.

So what? They have a way to print money and are doing it? Fuck them right!

Two games I was on the fence about are now heavily discounted and I got them both for less than half of what I paid for lunch. Nothing dumb about buying things when they are 90% off if you had an interest in them anyway.

Poker Night was already pre ordered for $5 by anyone who would buy it now just for the TF2 hat.

I don't see how any reasonable person would buy all those games they weren't interested in just to get a TF2 hat. Especially when these days there are so many of the things that they're all meaningless anyway. What will likely be well over a hundred pounds worth.

Oh actually that reminded me that someone bought one off me for £100 so never mind. I guess people are that desperate for them.

Chime is definately worth it. And part of its purchase price is intended for charity, so, despite the evil moneymaking devil concept, it at least puts games on peoples radar that have slipped before, which I think is a good thing.

Also, I like sales.

Solution:

Just get objectives for games you have. You'll probably hit 10 without even trying.

I bought Chime because I actually wanted it. I seriously doubt I'll win anything with that "extra chance". Any details on the grand prize of 100 games, like do you have to use it right away or how long you can wait before it expires? I'm not sure I could think of 100 games I wanted, even after 5 years have passed.

Hmm, I have 76 games in my list, a lot of them came with the Rockstar bundle though and several are retail.
I have 11 games on my wishlist right now and could easily think of some more, but I doubt that I would play more than a few in a serious manner.

With 100 free games I could definitely get every game that I ever was only slightly interested in.

Spidery_Yoda wrote:

Well, then you should invest those £100 to get all 28 games needed for the TF2 hat and sell it to another fool (or the same) for even more £££.
