1.5 is out, and there is some interesting additions. the server has a development build of Bukkit, so don't expect too much if you see some graphical glitches/artifacts.

i like that they're doing more in Nether . . .

Yea, i've been playing on the old IBM server.(Still Kicking)  But, i've not used any textures packs in a while.  I still prefer the classic look of the game.  Although I do like the 3D item drops now.

I've finally got internet again after moving, I might be able to finish my house at some point, or just continue making crazy redstone contraptions.

I'm still so exceptionally proud of what I built on my brothers Xbox version when creative mode came out for it.

Building underwater is a huge PITA. I ended up draining a portion of the lake on Tazz's server to facilitate...being able to see wtf I was doing. It's nice to have third-party tools.

You're telling me. That's 1:1 scale and it ain't a hollow shell. I built the fore and aft grand staircases down to C deck and the superstructure down to B. Then I have one stairwell going all the way to the bottom to showcase the boiler room, which was a bastard and a half because I had to fill and replace each block since they were all water source blocks. Hardest part was designing the shape of the bow and stern though. Probably couldn't do it again even if I wanted.

The easiest way I've found to do shapes like that is to keep in mind 3' or 1m as a cube size, resize a guide image, and then count pixels. The cheater way is to simply import a 3d object and then chip a few blocks off here and there to smooth out the rough edges.

The pixel counting is exactly how I operated. I had good enough statistics since it was a very well documented vessel, then used MS Paint to draw a basic mock up of top, front, and side. I also managed to find blueprints for it, which helped with the decks since the superstructure isn't just a rectangle. It's not perfect, but I did the best I could. I'm glad I didn't do it for PC as well, because I would OCD the fuck out of it and make custom texture packs, use mods to get panels and generally nerd out to make it absolutely perfect.

Some more of it:
